Claiming amnesty from the weekend thread and updating here!
The apartment is done! We spent saturday and sunday there and it is done! My daughter was there both days and moved her stuff out or into the garage. I cleaned like crazy. I scrubbed and polished the toilet like the "throne" it is! I used a brillo pad to get under the rim clean. I was on my hands and knees cleaning the back and sides of the toilet as well as the floor. I scrubbed the kitchen sink and DH continued to scrub for awhile. I ruined my nails (I wonder if I can write off the cost of the manicure in the cleaning costs?) I finished wiping the baseboard - well most of it. I steam cleaned the kitchen floor several times and even the back hallway floor. The LR and DR floors were a mess. So much stuff spilled and so many dog accidents. And some spills of unknown origins. I I cleaned those floors the best I could. I will head out over lunch to finish them before the inspector comes at 1:30pm. My DD and her DH emptied their stuff off the front porch and I used the shop vac to clean it the best I could. In the spring I will go out there and sand and paint all of the trim then remove the disgusting indoor/outdoor carpet and paint the floor. The porch is large enough for a small table and some chairs and perhaps a small sofa. I was happy with how the floors turned out - in general. I sprayed Murphy's oil soap and steam cleaned them. This left a soft shine to them. Not as much where they were super worn but in the bedrooms and hallway they looked great. Now to get this place rented.
I did manage to come home both nights and get laundry done. I have two loads of my stuff left to do. I also brought home to large contractors bags of clothing that my DD left int he basement. I know if she takes it to her house it will never get done and sit there until eternity. I love doing laundry so it is at my house to be done. Three loads done already! She offered to sell me her washer and dryer to leave int he basement for future tenants. I laughed and said sure - I will deduct it from her cleaning fee. She didnt laugh. I did!
My oldest son and his new girlfriend came to my parents apartment saturday night and we had take out dinner from a church fundraiser. The food was good and she seems like a lovely young woman. I hope he doesnt mess this one up.
OK - time to get caught up with my work..

I love this ohblondie, I hope she got the message.
Bree, I'm picturing your large dog carrying a leaf into the house, so cute!
I woke up 4 times during the night but fell back right away, so I'm considering that a good night's sleep. The sun is out, forecast high for today is 45!

Thanks lennon for starting thread ohblondie congrats on how much you accomplished! I have some tired wood floors so I was intrigued about how you cleaned yours- spray Murphy oil soap then steam? Are they slippery I have two rooms on particular that need to be redone but no idea how that would work w cats and dog So I am at work. Got up at the last minute. I need to get better at that ! The hardest part of my day is getting up! Tended to animals, packed my bag here I sit. No need to scrape car this morning if snow snd ice Only one chaos meeting so far -please God let it stay that way

Next:
Start load of laundry 10 minutes on first floor 10 minutes cleaning up from bookcase project Put some cabinet wood in garbage can
The last 2 weeks I forgot to put wood from the cabinet demolition into the garbage can and had to go out at the last minute the night before the pickup. This time I want to get it out there early, since I also have lots of large styrofoam pieces from the bookshelves to put in there and I want the wood to fit in first. After this pickup I should only have one batch of wood from the cabinet and also the doors that I took off the other cabinet and all the debris will be gone, so 2 more pickups.

I am so grateful for my garbage situation. I see some have to bring it places, or break it down, or do other gymnastics to get rid of items. I am blessed with large trash and recycle cans the county provides plus I can place any 1 large item curbside as long as it would fit in the bed of a pickup and it all gets taken once a week. I'm feeling relief that removal isn't another "to do" in my recovery.
Good morning everyone! I am still sore and recovering from Friday. I may sleep more.

Happy to get the trash out and lots of broken down boxes to recycle. Not feeling like the dishes today so maybe tonight will The heat is out in the entrance to the building, and now i feel it getting colder in here. I was wondering why it stays so warm up here, its because they heat the hallways and downstairs Interesting hearing about your apartment clean up Ohblondie you must have plenty of energy to take it on.

Good morning PS and oust!
PS, we can put one large thing next to the can too, but it has to be something one person can pick up since the trucks only have a driver, not a second helper. The long strip of wall cabinets that I broke down would not have qualified, they were old and made of very heavy wood. I just like breaking things down to where they fit into the can, and since most of my discards go into recycling or compost (at least, in summer) there's plenty of space in the garbage cans to get rid of the smaller broken down pieces. I don't know what I would do if I had to take things to the dump, I guess I couldn't live someplace like that without being able to drive because they are usually rural areas that wouldn't have stores nearby either.
I got a call from my shopping friend and had to go online to help her buy some things to be shipped to her. She continues to have various annoying problems at her residence, now they took away her ripped, mildewed shower curtain and the one they brought back was too short. So they took it away and now it's been 2 weeks and they can't seem to find one long enough--she hasn't been able to take a shower since then and when she calls the maintenance department she keeps getting a machine to leave a message but no one calls her back. So we had to look around and find one the right length and she's just going to buy it herself.
Next:
Take dog out and feed her and give her meds Move laundry to dryer 10 minutes on first floor Put all tools away

Bree - it was easy. I mixed murphy's oil soap straight from the bottle with water. About 50/50. Erring with a little more soap than water. I put it in a spray bottle. I would spray an area - then steam mop it with the steam cleaner. spray and steam, spray and steam. It was slippery if you stepped on the wet floor but I left them to dry and they were fine. I would not ordinarily put wet steam on a wood floor - but I feel like the steam allows the murphy's oil soap to penetrate.
I tried using the BONA wood floor cleaning system - and that left the floors oh so slippery.
We have security guards at work and it turns out I knew this one guard from before I got married. I really cant remember him from way back then but I pretend I do! He is a really nice guy and I wanted to hire his wife to clean the apartment but she was busy and did not have time available. He was talking to one of the other security guards and she (the other security guard) and her mother are looking for an apartment to rent. So I got her name and number. My son inquired first, then a girl that works with my younger DD, and now this young girl and her mom. THis apartment always rents by word of mouth. thank goodness because I hate the renting to strangers thing.
So something scary happened this past week and I didnt say anything but I am going to share it now. It really reminded me how old we are getting and how I really need to get my *** together.
Thursday afternoon DH was so extremely dizzy at work. He couldn't stand up and even when he held his head in his hands - the room kept spinning. He was also ever so slightly nauseous. Work called and asked that I come get him and they had to walk him out to the car. His blood sugar was 176. High but not that high as to cause these issues. We went to urgent care who sent us to a more advanced urgent care (more like a hospital) and then sent him to the medical center hospital. Bottom line, they weren't sure what was causing this episode as by the time he ended up at the medical center he was feeling better. They did EKG and CAT Scan and a contrast MRI. They do not think he had a ministroke Thursday but they found evidence of past mini strokes and a blood clot in the artery that goes down the back of the head to the neck. He was prescribed eliquis and to come back for a repeat scan to see if the clot dissolved.
I think it is high time we get things in order. He plans on retiring from his day job in May then moving his P/T evening job into a F/T job. I told him we should probably get things set up so that we are both protected. We have a will but now that we have kids and property - we need to update it. His name is on the deed to our house as he had better credit when we refinanced the mortgage. I was against the refinancing and taking out money against the house but he insisted on it. Both names need to be on everything with an updated will in place.
OK - off of my soapbpx and back to work.
Actually - time to go meet the inspector for the inspection.

oust I had no choice about the cleaning. DH tried to hire someone and she had no time. In order to get it done, I had to suck it up and just do it.

Good morning everypony!
oh goodness it is a bit chaotic over here! Lady D and 2 are out with DVD, filing for temporary custody and seeing about housing. You can imagine what the house looks like. I would like to vacuum but am not quite ready for that. I did not fall asleep until 4:00 am--not sure why.
DONE: swapped phones (for Lady D's security)
and sent screenshots
made coffee checked notifications and replied
NEXT UP: meds and supplements
wash up and get dressed do face
make bed do dishes tidy
vacuum or at least sweep

Good morning scholar!
Ohblondie, that is scary, and yes, getting things in order is important. As someone who had to deal with things not done right (by my sister's lawyer) I can say it can be a nightmare when things are not in order, and that's not something you need when you are grieving someone. I know you're busy and in the middle of a lot of things, but you might want to have an initial meeting with a lawyer so that you will be provided with options of how to handle things, then you can mull it over. I think everyone waits too long to do end of life planning, I know I did. But when I made my will a huge mental load lifted. I hope your DH is okay.
I'm stopping for lunch and a TV break.
