Next I will make a sweet potato for lunch. We finally got the smallest of drizzles outside, hardly enough to cover the sidewalk.

desposito and anyone who loves dogs ~~~ the cutest commercial I have seen is for Nutro Pet Food called Let's Grow Healthy Dogs. Not on tv anymore but you can see it on You Tube. A tiny Yorkie pokes his way out of what looks like a chicken egg. In an *apple orchard* people are picking puppies from the trees, a Corgi puppy grows in the kale patch and my favorite ~ a lady taps a pumpkin to see if it is ripe. She pries it apart and inside is a tiny red Pomeranian waiting to be picked. I LOVE it. Big, big smiles every single time I watch it!!
Diane, when I was 6 and 7 walking to school in the fall, I would hear a very specific bird call. I loved it and had no idea what it was so I called whoever was making it "September birds". As I got older and could place the sound with a specific bird I realized it was a blue jay. Whenever I hear them now I still think, September birds.
oust said ~ Who would guess memories of the furniture could make tears? ME!!!! I still have a plastic baby reclining chair/carrier that both my kids used, over 43 years old now. My best memory of it is when I would sit on the floor in the kitchen of our first house and feed my first-born daughter in the chair on the floor. As I fed her little spoonfuls in the morning I could hear a mama bird in the stove vent who had made a nest there and was feeding her peeping babies at the same time. I am about ready to let it go but I have many memories about everything. It's hard!!!! on doing all the hard work!
Yesterday the furnace guy came and did maintenance on 2 furnaces. He said an oil filter and canister that should have been put on during installation was on one furnace but not the other. He is going to order that. Last night I put on the AC for just the upstairs for DD1 who needs a cool temp. There has been a lot of vibration on the flue pipe and other tube stuff for the one unit all summer but last night it was so bad I shut everything down. I was afraid things were going to pull apart. Today was a big hassle trying to have another repairman come out for that. At first it couldn't happen before one week. I made another text and call and a good guy got back to me and sent the same repairman out again this afternoon. He didn't think the vibrations were a problem, told me the furnace filter was too resistant to the air blowing through. I use Filtrete because they help a lot with catching pet dander, dust mites, all kids of yucky stuff we don't want to be breathing in. It sounded like a lot of excuses and I think he was tired and not happy to have an extra call dumped on him. It's not really resolved but I was too overwhelmed to argue. Since AC season is over I'll see how things go with the heat in a couple months. Thankfully this house is well insulated and I don't need too much of either heat or AC. Still, as with all household things that I don't understand it was stressful.
Another gorgeous day before a storm moves in this weekend.

Hi All !!!
I had to go to Dr's office to have routine blood work done this morning. I got a handful of small things done before I left and I took a shower and washed my hair. Later I did a couple of wash loads and have dried them and put them away. Paid a bill by phone. Did the daily things. Loaded and ran the DW. Processed mail. Cat care. Talked on phone with my BFF in CT.
Wishing good things for all.

Good morning!
Reve, I love washi tape! And washi stickers, and all other stickers!
Danny, I will look for that commercial. I still stop what I'm doing and watch the screen for the last bit of the Chewy commercial where the dog says "v-ah-se". And your story about the bluejays is funny because I also didn't know what bird was making that call until a few years ago. When I was a child my family would take a long car ride every year to a neighboring state to visit my aunt and uncle on their very rural property. I would hear this bird call there, but never in the city where I lived. So I associated it with those childhood trips. Maybe 5-6 years ago I started hearing this call in my neighborhood for the very first time. It wasn't often, so I would be outside looking around frantically to see what bird was making the sound but could never see it. Probably a year before I moved I finally heard the call and saw a bluejay for the first time ever. So I'm always excited when I hear them around here, they do remind me of being out in the country as a child. And I love the idea of feeding your baby while listening to a mama bird feeding hers!
I saw the goldfinch baby and mom again yesterday, they were in the back part of the yard on the other sunflower plant--the one with nothing near to stake it to so it grew all fallen over and sprawling, like a medusa! I thought it was weird that they were having babies so late in the summer so I looked it up--apparently, birds that mainly eat seeds keep having babies into fall because that's when there is plentiful seed around! I never see sparrow babies in fall though. Now I'm wondering--do they break the seed open and give the baby what's inside? Or do they just put the seed into the baby's mouth so they learn to break the seeds up themselves? By the time babies are flying and following the mother around they're almost as big as an adult so can certainly break open a seed hull.
Sleep was the same last night, rough start to the night but by about midnight I was able to sleep with very brief wake-ups. We have two more warm-ish days until it goes back down to 70, I'll probably need the upstairs air-conditioner today.

Happy Friday! my first post of the week. i read back a little bit, cute commercials! one of my favs was for an allergy medicine and it showed all these little scenes of a man dating a woman who loved her cat, and the guy was trying to get the cat to accept him.
I have had a rough week. Work has that project political nasty mess going on. We have sent it up the food chain a bit, but I don't know what if anything will happen. we only meet with that person with recording now ugh.
but the worst part, and way worse for boycat than me, was that boycat was sprayed by a skunk. Ugh to the zillionth power. I actually survived giving him a bath; I could not find anyone to do it at a groomers. Boycat was actually very good but as time went on he became upset. I still have major clean up in the house, when he first came in he ran to my bed so my room stinks (been using DD room) and I think I will just have to toss my bedding as it seems water in wash is bad for skunk spray, reactivates and was warned not to use a dryer. I have windows open to air house. My next chore is to spray the living room and my room with miracle de skunker. Anyone with any tips on dealing with this, please let me know!!!! I am physically exhausted! he is sitting next to me right now, smelling fresh.
I also had a gas leak so firemen and the gas company were unexpectedly in my house, in the nook and crannies. My public house is ok but was a mess from the boycat stuff, but the basement is not ready for prime time really. but not that bad for a basement I guess. anyway it was fixed and I am grateful.
then I dropped my phone in the water. it is drying out in rice I hope!!! I am praying it survives.
then I took girlcat to the vet for bloodwork this morning, to see if her meds are working. I can tell they are!
in the meantime I have been working, walking puppy, doing dishes and cleaning litter and paid some bills.
puppy is at daycare I am exhausted and should have taken today off!
I am scared I am going to start to smell a little skunky as I can tell the house still smells a bit when I come back in after being out.

Oh no bree, what a time you've had! I cannot smell skunk, so if that had happened to me whatever animal I had would be all over the house, smelling everything up, and I wouldn't know it! Until someone else came in and said "what is that awful smell!?" And a gas leak on top of it! Yes, you should take a day off!

Oh bree !! Someday you may laugh as you tell the skunk story or look back on it. I somehow think you are not laughing now though ! And in the same week--- a gas leak !! And the phone dropped in the water. You do get the blue ribbon or medal for having the worst week ever, absolutely !! I actually do feel sorry for you. I hope the residual odor does dissipate and you have a decent smelling home again !!! Did you use any special soap or tomato juice when you bathed poor boy cat ? I have unloaded the DW and taken down the trash, and done the daily things. Took care of a business letter. My back is aching some , so I took some Tylenol and am currently resting, but will try to do more homekeeping. My area is expecting some fierce rain and wind starting tonight and going into Sunday, so I am doing some prep work on the porches. My best to all. catcats

Diane, I'd love to hear your ideas for using washi tape! The stuff I've got is absolutely beautiful, all moons and stars and constellations on marbled backgrounds. So very me!
It's finally Friday. Both mum and MIL will be over at various points tomorrow so I will need to do some guest-readying downstairs, but it actually isn't too bad. A quick PUPA on the living room and a quick once over of the bathroom should be enough, which is a nice position to be in. We still haven't assembled our new bookcases, so that is a tomorrow job, and mum is hopefully going to help me get some donations stuff out of the house at last. Thankfully we don't have too much planned for the weekend otherwise, as I really need some relaxing time. Two more weeks to my next vacation, and next week *should* be a lighter one.
Done: Changed towels bathroom Changed towels kitchen Load of laundry Watered plants Achieve dining table zero Achieve coffee table zero Laundry taken upstairs
To do: Water lilies PUPA living room General once over of the bathroom Laundry from machine to dryer

Good afternoon catcats!
Reve, I just use it on mail that I send out--along the bottom of the inside of a card, or a strip of it on an envelope, although I don't know how well it withstands going through the mail service. Something I've learned with my nice cards, note cards and stickers is to USE them. Years ago I was saving everything--using up the worst of what I had, and saving the rest for...I don't even know what. A lot of my nice stationery got ruined over the years because it sat in drawers and got yellowed and/or musty, so now I use everything. I not only use my stickers on mail, I put them on my to-do lists, my reminder notes--anything that will be around for a couple of days so I can see them and appreciate them. They don't do any good sitting in a drawer! I have washi tape for different holidays, plus some plant and animal designs.
I stopped for lunch and will probably take a short reading break.
