No cat barfs today.
That always qualifies as a good day!
Scholar, 4 drawer cabinets are much better, at least the top drawers don't require constant bending! Make sure the drawers roll smoothly though, if you have to tug them open and closed, that's as bad as having to bend every time you want to file something.
Good morning everyone. I didn't fall asleep until midnight, not because of the dog, but because of the stressful Comcast contact yesterday. The issue is still weird because this morning when I put in my regular email it didn't recognize my new password and I had to sign in under my "rescue" email name instead, which I don't understand at all, which means I have to contact them again at some point. But at least I was able to get in. Then at 1:30 the dog needed to go out, but this time I fell back to sleep faster than I usually do after a middle-of the-night yard visit so I think I got between 5 and 6 hours of sleep.
It's grey and rainy right now but I think it's supposed to clear up soon. I have lots of project cleanups to do, like the remaining fridge clean-out dishes and the packing stuff from the new table. Plus some cards I was working on yesterday when the table came and I got distracted putting it together.

Too many things going on; I need to do an overall brain dump.
A lot of stuff has been messed up and very stressful. I feel like a toddler screaming and thrashing on the floor with an epic temper tantrum. When *big things* like companies have all the control over some part of your life and you try and try to get something resolved and the companies are all automated or the few people you can talk to have absolutely no authority to do anything and they are stressed by their hands being tied and end up being nasty to customers it's enough to make you have an epic tantrum. In my head though ~ I try to be nice to people ~ but oh, the inside cursing......!!!
I decided yesterday not to try and force a solution on the furnace/AC equipment problems. But I did do more research so I feel like there are options although the options will cost money. Money that shouldn't have to be spent as everything (including labor) is still covered by warranties and agreements.
Diane, when you wrote about the stress of your Comcast mess causing you to lose sleep I have complete empathy.
A couple great things that hugely lifted my spirits ~ after much red tape (really SO unnecessary!!!) I was finally able to get DD1 a permanent excusal from jury duty. One of my kitties went back to recheck bloodwork and, totally surprising, got an all clear. Her weight is holding steady and she needs to stay on meds for digestive issues and fingers crossed, that will improve also. Sweet Josie girl has to go back on meds as her respiratory problems are ramping up again. But she has accepted being medicated very well. catcats the vet and I were talking about cats blowing coat seasonally vs. all year round as Abby was enveloping us in a cloud of soft gray bunny fur. We have had some hairballs being hacked up so that could be the same problems your boys are having around your house.
DD1 and I were so happy about the long-awaited letter from the county circuit court that we treated ourselves to dinner out. Since I can't sit very long we ate part of a cheese fries appetizer, tasted our entree and took the rest home. The server was lovely, the food was yummy and we have enough for a couple more meals. Spontaneous and fun!
Today the plumber is coming back to change the ultra-violet light for the water treatment system. Tomorrow is open. Thursday is another tech attempt to work on the furnace and the masonry guy to look at the collapsing retaining wall. The handyman had set up time to work but had to cancel; still waiting for the reschedule. The landscaper called. His whole family is sick with Covid, bronchitis and pink eye (he sounded awful!) and apologized for all the work that was supposed to be finished by now. I appreciated the update. A lot of sicknesses going round. Still waiting on the contract for the remaining fence work. And some big bills need to be paid today including property taxes.

Hmmm looks like my post from yesterday might have been eaten, I can't see it anymore. I'm glad you called up the company though Diane to start sorting the password thing!
Today, I applied my decluttering at work. It was only staff in the building today so I decided to tackle our store room. Two car loads of stuff taken to the recycling centre. Lots still to do, but at least starting that way has given us a good basis for organising things. I'm very achey and tired now though!
Done: Arranged flowers Emptied dishwasher Threw out expired food Wiped down coffee table Achieved coffee table zero
To do: Set out clothes for tomorrow Take laundry upstairs Achieve dining table zero

Good morning danny, ugh, yes you have a lot of things going on. I know what you mean about too many things at once--just the Comcast thing and the house insurance thing combined have made me anxious. At least your plumber visit today sounds simple enough (although maybe I shouldn't say that!)
I'm using the insurance agent that my sister had, and although he's a very nice person he needs a lot of follow up to get him to do things. I got my bill for this year's house insurance and it's more than double last year's bill--I can't pay that. So two weeks ago he said he'd look into why it was so high and I still haven't heard anything although this is now the second followup email this morning--he responded right away, but his answer was the same as the last time, he's still looking into it. So I told him that I needed to know quickly because if I have to start calling other companies I need to start right now.
I get that house insurance costs are rising due to extreme weather events. I also get that the concept of insurance means that a large pool of people all pay into a fund and the people unlucky enough to need the insurance get the money. However, I think it's reasonable for that to pertain to a region--we have no major weather catastrophes here, and I don't think it's fair for me to have to pay extra to cover people who voluntarily live in areas where their houses are in constant danger. I told him to find me a policy with less coverage (mine includes coverage for outbuildings--I have no outbuildings). So we'll see where that goes.
I know that looking at other companies would involve people coming to look at the house, and maybe even this company will want to look at the house. And the fact that that doesn't strike fear into my heart is amazing to me! Not that it's in perfect shape for visitors, but I wouldn't be horrified if someone came through right now.

Diane and Danny15---Boy, do I ever get you both about having to make calls, trying to prod folks into straightening things out ( in companies), etc. That sort of thing throws me into a bad mood--anxiety, major annoyance, etc. Diane, my insurance policies have the rates jacked up too, although there have been no claims. I have to force myself to be pleasant, and I am, but inside, I am not feeling pleasant AT ALL. Seems like more and more of this happens now. I don't remember having to do all these calls when I was younger and working. My hubby just about never did any of that stuff, so it would have fallen on me, but I think there is just more and more nowadays. UGH. Danny---Glad the jury duty thing went through now.
I was supposed to visit my friends today and treat to dinner -delivered-, but she had to cancel, or postpone, since some work in their home was causing a problem and more was going to happen today. I don't mind, and we will do it later this week or next week.
This morning, I made a big pot of turkey chili and it is already portioned out for the freezer and fridge, and one freezer container is for my DD , when next I see her. The kitchen was tidied and I have taken out recycling and trash, the latter to the curb for tomorrow's pick-up. Laundry is going on and most dailies are finished. I have more laundry to do, and should shower later too. I did process the mail, but there are some things to do with that yet.
A big hello and good wishes to everyone reading.

Until I went out to the yard with the dog I forgot that today was the day to put garbage cans out, and I hadn't filled the yard waste can. So I went to the back of the yard and cut down pokeweed branches where the berries were either shriveled up or gone--many were gone, so the birds are obviously eating them. Then I trimmed back the squash plants again because literally in two days they grew over the path to one of the rain barrels. I looked at the last plant again, the one that hasn't produced anything yet, and there are two flowers that have a little swelling on the bottom that MIGHT turn into something. I will have to watch them and see. So many of the flowers just fall off the stem but nothing grows. The second pumpkin is starting to turn orange!
I saw a bird outside that I haven't seen before, a very small brown bird, smaller than a sparrow, and it had a call almost like a squirrel. I will have to see if I can figure out what it was.
But now I need to cool off because of course, the sun came out for the first time today right when I went out to start trimming the plants and it got pretty hot out there.

Hello catcats! Did your insurance rate double? I'm trying to figure out if this is normal--I have read articles lately about prices going up but honestly, we are in one of the safest weather areas in the country and I really think this is too much!

Diane---I will have to look it up and see how much the rate went up !
Danny---I DO think a lot of the cat barf---but not all-- was hairball related.

Oh, don't go to any trouble catcats, I thought you might remember the last cost. I was just so shocked by the amount that I looked mine up, I had a rough idea of what it was but wanted to know how much more it was so I could state that in my email to the agent!

hi again everypony,
I am frequently furious on the inside, too, about the corporate takeover of our lives. Honestly I want to find a way to express my rage at those that are actually responsible for this, hiding behind their beleaguered employees.
From all the data points I am looking at, we are experiencing another COVID spike. I started wearing my mask again cause of my cold, and I want to get back into the habit. The treatments for long COVID are still so complicated as there is not yet agreement about what the underlying mechanisms are. And there are probably at least four main categories. The good news there is a recent breakthrough on testing for it.
I am just so aware of my mortality and the waxing and waning of disability/ability. I am grateful for this forum as it helps me get back in the saddle no matter how many times life bucks me off!

Oh scholar, me too.
And in this vein, I just got a call from my shopping friend. It's been over a week since I heard from her and I knew that was not good, she's back in low spirits, she had some physical setbacks that really brought her down. I was still glad to hear from her though, because when I don't hear anything at all I imagine the worst.
