Good Monday Morning everyone!
I am working from home today and have been at it for almost an hour
DS dropped off his dirty jeans. He is a mechanic and they get so greasy and oily. Going to a laundromat would not get them clean. I will wash those this am then wash my mom's sheets after lunch.
OK - off I go

Good morning ohblondie, womble and def! I hope your WiFi gets fixed def, we are so dependent on it now!
I just came back from the library, and I also dropped some paper recycling in the library bin and mailed a large batch of cards.
It is chilly, damp and grey outside, perfect weather for sitting in a reading chair and looking out the window. I will do some of that later, but first I have to clean up my main room. I definitely was not back to baseline last night, between writing out cards and preparing food I made a big mess and just left it for today.
Once again the dog had a good night but I couldn't fall asleep until midnight and literally woke up every hour after that, I'm not sure if it's because I'm anxious listening for the dog to start panting, or maybe it's because it's December which was the month when my sister started getting really sick. This December 26th will be three years since she died, but it doesn't really feel like it was in the past, if that makes any sense. My sinuses are bothering me the last couple of days too, I always have a small degree of congestion but today it's pretty bad and I have a slight headache too which is not the norm. Maybe there's a barometric pressure change or something.
I will rest for a short while and then try to make lists again, I've done fairly well with lists the last few days and don't want to lapse into wasting time.

I have lost my verizon fios service twice It is almost impossible to get through to a actual human to schedule repairs. It has never been anything in my house or wiring up to the house. It has always been something in a switchbox blocks away. I hope they get it fixed soon. I shredded a few things this am.Including my 1997 tax return. Those numbers looked pretty small after 25 years. I want to get rid of old papers so the house cleanout when I move or die takes no time. Moved box to car Getting blankets to donate Appointment tomorrow for eye checkup so I want to drop of donations bit by bit clearing out the dining room. I found a shovel/spade in room, What was I thinking? Need to keep at the kichen chores

Diane---I hope you feel better soon. I know what you mean, I think, about the anniversary of a loved one's death. The current "calendar" brings it back and we are again caught up in it , at least to a degree. You lost your dear sister the day after Christmas and I lost my hubby the day before Thanksgiving. So this time of year has some sad memories attached to it , although in general, I think we handle it pretty well. I didn't realize that you had lost your dear sister in 2020. In August of that year, my DD1 died. A difficult year for both of us. I wish you peace in your heart about this. catcats

Thank you catcats, I didn't realize you also had a holiday loss, it definitely changes the character of the holiday going forward. I used to love Christmas decorations and having a tree and now that I have no cats and could have a tree again, I really don't want one, it just makes me sad to think of decorating. What's interesting is that the biggest holiday thing I'm doing this year is watching the Hallmark movies, because that is one Christmas thing that my sister never did so they don't remind me of her. There's really no way to make the grief of loss better, it's a part of life we just need to live with. Being a person who's interested in psychology, I find it fascinating that the time of year reminds us of it subconsciously before we even realize what the date is.
I found a shovel/spade in room, What was I thinking?
Beesnest, this is funny, I have had the same kind of experience. Good luck getting donations out!
TO DO:
Call decluttering client 10 minutes PEEPing Restock water in fridge Delete 10 hard emails

hello all Diane and catcats the loss of loved ones would make the holidays harder for sure.... I had a dentist appt today - all good - but as a result I worked at home afterwards for two zoom meetings. I was on my way in when I realized that I would be late for the meeting and then have to come home for puppy. so here I set. heading in though. yesterday I spent about 1.5 hours in my bedroom! I only found 14 things to donate or toss clothing wise. In reality most of the clothes in my room do not fit me! If someone said pull together the clothes you really wear, the room would have so much storage. as a result of that sorting though, I did get a lot of stuff put away -- clothes languising in a laundry bin and on the vanity bench. My hardest thing is also to part with DD stuff. I have all of her Christmas dresses from little girlhood those beautiful dresses! in a row in a closet. I also have lots of stuff like camp, sports, dance t-shirts, sweats, uniforms that I cannot part with! I think I will buy a bin and store all of those things in there. I suspect DD would just toss them all but maybe she'd change her mind, but I don't see her as an adult who wants her pre-school sweatshirt. I dropped the donations off took puppy for an early walk met some friends for about three hours when I came home it was dark, mildish in the 40s, but drizzling. I naively thought pupply already had a walk. Puppy was jumping off the walls. So for the sake of me and the cats, I took her on a walk in the rain. We ran into a fox which stopped and looked at su and I quickly change course. I am nervous around foxes as we have had people getting bitten by rabid foxes in the last few months. I have not seen deer for three days! this is a record. after the walk, I did not do much. right now, I am going to do the dishes and then head to the office. after the dentist I made a quick stop at the store to get some petfood so I don't have to do that tonight. I had two zoom meetings. One I was really distracted during; the second was when I really earn my keep, a hard, challenging meeting in which I had to make decisions that I think Chaos may not like! I have a meeting w unpleasant Pt person looming ahead .ugh!! I also spent some time on the phone re DD dermatology medicine. Her refill was denied and the on call doc said tell her to go to her university health center for it What ?? she needs a dermatologist and she needs that medicine. I asked to hear from her regular doc and it looks like it will sort out. phew.

Thanks for getting the week started lennon ! HI Everyone! Diane - Sending good energy Holidays can be hard! I miss our big family gatherings and get togethers. So many of the family have passed away and the rest of us have moved far away. Just a few left back home and they don’t get together. I am still buried under work, home, health, etc. Trying to dig out a little bit at a time.

I've been having a lot of problems around here. Some are resolved, others are waiting.
Outdoor decorations are almost finished. I have to keep taking breaks and laying down inside. We get a little more done then get feeling all Christmassy and want to do more. It looks really pretty and we've been getting compliments which is nice. Keeping up with the outside of the house hopefully makes people think the inside must be nice too. Unless anyone sees inside our garage which looks like it has exploded. We did get a little work done in there today.
bree about all your DD's clothing from her younger years ~ I have the same issues here. Just too sweet and too filled with memories to part with. I have two little sweatshirts from pre-school that my girls are not going to want. So precious though. I have pics of them in those shirts, one where they are taking big bites of apples from a fall trip to the orchard. Another where they are sitting with our Border Collie. Bear Dog was in between them and just as I snapped the pic she had turned to lick DD2 in the face causing her to laugh out loud. And school uniforms, sports uniforms, dance costumes, etc. Of course the beautiful holiday clothes. And just cute play clothes. Those were the best times of my life. I have been donating (extremely hard) and keeping my faves. I dressed up some stuffed teddy bears and that way I can enjoy my toys and the clothes at the same time.
When I read about you working in your bedroom it spurred me on to give a quick look at my stacks of freshly washed t-shirts and get more bags for donation. They are in the car. My load for animal thrift for Wednesday is small; I need to get more Christmas stuff so they can get those sold. They are in the truck. I have some bags in the car for church donation, clothes, bedding, toiletries, books.
to those of you who have lost loved ones around holidays. My deaths seem to be clustered. I never even need to see a calendar. Just the time of year is a reminder. Same for animal deaths.
TML I have been missing our big family gatherings also. It was hard work prepping for them, always stressful, (they were always at my house), but it sad that those times are over. People die, they move away or they finally figure out they don't like each other and don't want to waste time with annoying people. That is probably just as well.
My DD2 just hosted her tradition ~ what she calls Cousin Christmas ~ with her husband's brother's family from another state. They pile in for a few days with their big, fluffy dog and have all kinds of fun for the teens and kids that DD2 has meticulously arranged. Making gingerbread houses, scavenger hunts for matching Christmas pj's, lots of holiday cooking, nighttime *picnic on the floor* while watching favorite Christmas movies. She took a ton of pics and videos and sent them to me. It warmed my heart so much!!! What was even sweeter was that in one of the videos she was telling the kids this is what her mom did and the traditions continue. I wish I had the energy still. In about a week DD1 and I will go there for the Christmas cookie bake. I used to make literally thousands of Christmas cookies for gifts. We still have some big gingerbread cookies my girls decorated decades ago. Those things petrify and last forever.
Waiting for another milder day or two and outdoor decorating will be done. Pretty sure. The clean parts of the house inside are looking festive also. The birds and squirrels are gathering every day on the deck rails for their seeds and nuts. We love that so much!!
