hi everypony! thanks for the holiday wishes. Happy Boxing Day!
we had a nice dinner Christmas Eve, and then kicked people out cause we were tired. It was bittersweet seeing the decline in DB, who use to read The Night Before Christmas to us every year. He was reading it, but not out loud.
Yesterday I got up before dawn, to enjoy the quietest morning of the year. took some pictures. washed all the dishes and put up the tables and chairs. DVD slept ten hours. DVD said I was doing "steroid cleaning."
we had a relaxing day, with less visiting of the family than I expected. which was awesome, actually, . ate leftovers and left the mess until today. Last night I started working with a new book and journal, planning for the new year.
I woke up congested at 3:00am, so got up. been fooling around with my dolls. Got a new red one and emerald green one, which has inspired a holiday photo shoot! we don't have any appointments until Thursday, so the schedule is flexible. In other words I can nap later today.
I'm gonna try and sleep in the chair now.

RE: Christmas cactus - there are also Thanksgiving Cactus and Easter Cactus. It all depends on the shape of the "leaves". They are leaves but I am not sure what to call them. the green pieces of stem.
it was great having all weekend to get ready - I feel like I remembered 99% of everything.
We had Christmas Eve at DS's GF's house and Christmas dinner at DD's house. I of course spent christmas eve and Christmas morning making sure my parents visited each other. I also brought my mom over to my BFF;s house for a bite to eat christmas eve. did not make it to church.
DH and I went and had our picture taken with Santa. We put them in a frame and have one to each of the kids in their stocking. The loved it and laughed so hard. I also bought shirts that said "I'm Mom's favorite" and gave them each one. we laughed so hard - it felt so good!
over the weekend I made three trays of lasagna and one tray of macncheese. Only the meatball lasagna came home for DS. My fridge went from packed to empty. YAY!! Now I can clean it out and scrub the shelves - again......
I had two great gifts for Christmas. One was a wooden adirondack chair made by a friend of ours. he used my parents old skiis and it is so beautiful and amazingly comfortable. And I just love the story behind it,...
my second gift is - I am going to be a grandma!! Mid July is the due date.
Now even more reason to retire and clean up my act!
OK - back to work for me

Good morning everyone! I'm waiting for the library to open, and for the dog to want to go out, which probably won't happen til much later. We didn't have a great night, she did some unusual breathing/panting in the middle of the night that had me concerned, but this morning she seems okay.
kicked people out cause we were tired
Wow, scholar had enough of people? That's a Christmas miracle!
I am going to be a grandma!!
OHBLONDIE! Wow! This is huge news!
Now even more reason to retire and clean up my act!
Yes, yes! Make a plan and schedule! Let's see, by the time baby is crawling your first floor will be completely crawl-able! I can't wait to vicariously get started on this project! Congratulations!

I'm home from the library. I had planned to spend a lot of time reading the last 2 days but didn't, partly because between talking to the neighbor and being on the phone a lot yesterday, it felt like I had taken up too much time with other things. I think my brain is rebelling because although the library had 2 books waiting for me, I ended up taking out 7! I'm feeling that winter desire to barricade myself in the house in the comfy chair with hot chocolate and read, read, read. I will try to set aside some reading time today, although I do also feel like tackling my to-do list.
I did hear from my shopping friend last night, she sounded a little better. I also did not return one phone call, to my senior client--I will try to do that today.
I need prescription refills for the dog's meds, and since last night I've been trying to order them. I can't find my password (that's why I really need to do that challenge goal, work on password organization) so I clicked on the "forgot password" button to get a link to change it, and it's not working. I did check my spam folder, and I cleared cookies. It's still not working. So this morning I went to their chat, and it said "no agents available, please call instead." So I called, and when I pressed the "calling for assistance with a pet or equine order" option, it hung up on me. This is the same problem I had last time. But I tried the number again and got the message that there were an unusually high number of calls and that they would call me back when someone was available. So...now I will wait for a phone call.
TO DO:
10 minutes on plants Start dishes soaking Place Chewy order Delete 10 hard emails

ohblondie congratulations on becoming a grandma!!! Diane - I can relate to your password stuff - I was having to click on "forgot username or password" the last couple of week and go through all the rigamarole of checking all the boxes that have a bigfoot and getting a code in my email to go enter.... The day after Christmas is one of my favorite days of the year!!! I went to bed last night knowing that I did not have to get up to clean, or shop, or wrap presents, or work! we all slept in, even girlcat who is the earliest riser slept in. puppy is not a morning dog which is a blessing. Our Christmas was lovely! very peaceful gathering, smaller than planned due to sickness, but all went well otherwise. DD was a big help, as I wrapped gifts, made lasagna, took puppy for a walk (in the daylight!), she also helped with wrapping, getting the table set, bathroom guest ready, etc those little things that can add up when you are chopping veggies DD loved her gifts! and she gave me sweet thoughtful ones, then family came over and we had tasty dinner and gift exchange and peaceful visit. as my DBIL said this is an adult christmas which was kind of nice!! though it is always fun to have littles around I fell asleep on the couch after the festivities and woke up about midnight and finished most of the clean up, did dishes, gathered up wrapping paper, and so when i woke up this morning it was to a clean house. so far today I have fed the animals, called about having the gutters cleaned, did some texting, I could take a nap! we have a family dinner later, so I will buy a bottle of wine to bring. Before we go I'll take puppy for a walk next - put away clean dishes, wash stragglers

Good morning bree! Your Christmas sounds wonderful!
checking all the boxes that have a bigfoot
Oh, I wish it DID ask for boxes with bigfoot, I'm so tired of looking for traffic lights!
I did get a call back from the pharmacy, they tried to send a link and it didn't work, so I don't know if it's my Comcast email or what. But they took my order over the phone, so it's good. Assuming it comes in the time they say it will.
Next:
10 minutes PEEPing
Sterilize sponge and wash some dishes Send email about real estate taxes Delete 10 hard emails

So it turns out my dad has covid. He has very mild symptoms - thanks to the shots and boosters he has had. We can still visit - we just need to gown and mask up. I think the gown is overkill - I think the mask is enough. But. I dont make the rules.
I am looking round my desk and I want to clean out a pile of paper - or a partial pile of paper....

ohblondie I am glad your father has mild symptoms - Covid is just nasty. I loved the idea of the shirts - Mom’s favorite . I am an only child and I am still on the iffy side of Mom’s favorite. Evidently she praises me to the sky with other people (or so I hear from them) but 1:1 I hear nothing but complaints. I would be better off buying the shirts to dress up the cats. I am still working on house (I am always working on house). Next up I need to load up the dish washer and get it going, flip laundry into the dryer, and then start folding. Also I need to clear out the bags of nonperishable items I ordered for groceries and put them up. I also need to start cooking up some vegetables and clear out my fridge…. And keep labeling stuff in the freezer. Right now for dishwasher, I am putting in the containers I cleaned out from the cabinets. All of my dishes are clean except for 2 forks and a spoon which is pretty amazing. All of my clothes are clean except for what I am wearing and the under bedding on my bed. I stripped it off and did all the sheets and blankets and now I need to start switching the underbedding (no cats allowed as this is what I was doing when tiger decided to shred the top of my last mattress).

Sorry to hear your dad has covid, ohblondie, I'm hearing about so many sick people. My last Walmart trip I looked around to see if people were wearing masks, almost no one was. And the library staff today was not either. (As usual when I go first thing, there were no other patrons there.)
I am an only child and I am still on the iffy side of Mom’s favorite
Are you off all week, TML?
Next:
Take dog out and feed her 10 minutes on first floor Call decluttering client

I noticed something that I thought was ironic. I'm sure I mentioned that a while ago I started getting tons of phishing emails, at least 5 a day up to 15-20 a day. I forward every one of them to the two government addresses set up to report them, and if it's using the name of a company that also has an email address to forward them to, I do that too. I'm sure it doesn't do much good, especially with the government addresses, but it's satisfying to me to do it, and it helps me not get overly aggravated about it. Anyway, I noticed that I didn't get any spam at all on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. So...these scammers are busy celebrating a lovely sentimental holiday with their families which makes them not have time to send out the scam emails...but then they go back to trying to steal from innocent strangers as soon as the holiday is over. Yeah, ironic.

I'm going to eat lunch and watch something on tv. I have now watched all 40 brand new Hallmark movies this season--mostly just by watching the DVR recordings during meals. This is the second year I watched every one of them--there were only three that were BAD, there were also only 4-5 that I thought were "keepers" that I would want to watch over again in the same season--the rest were either average, or "very good" which means I would watch them again every year, but probably not more than once a year. See, I even keep track of numbers during my Hallmark movie watching!
After lunch I'm going to spend one hour playing a computer game for 5 minutes and then deleting emails for 5 minutes. My emails were steadily decreasing until recently, the last couple of weeks they've gone up, probably with all the holiday advertising. So, I will try to get the number down again, although most of the ones to delete are still hard ones that take at least a little time to look at.

Doing my annual good deed and going with my DD to visit my MIL. Taking it for the team. then headed to see my father,. No idea what to get for supper - maybe the lunch I inadvertently left at home today? desposito I read an article on AOL maybe - that was a list of the best ranked Hallmark Holiday movies. I wonder if your list matches up with theirs. What makes a movie good to your ratings and standards? are there actors/actresses that are better than others? I think after I get home it might be time for a load of laundry to get run through then maybe the fridge? I have what I can only describe as a paper cut on the left side of my right thumb. I am constantly hitting the space bar with it - and it hurts. Washing dishes doesnt help but I have to get them done somehow. I did put first aid cream and a bandaid on it. OK - DD is almost here so off I go.

Ohblondie, I definitely have my favorite actors, in fact, during the rest of the year, the only Hallmark movies I watch are the ones with my favorite people in them--I'm not interested in non-Christmas movies for the stories, especially since most of the movies have traditionally had the same plot. Even for the Christmas movies, I like the ones that are different--not the same old story centered on the romance. All of the movies have some romance in them, but I like the ones that are about something more. For example, one of my favorites this year was about a sight-impaired man who gets a guide dog, so it was also somewhat about the struggles he faced with his sight. This year they've had more movies with different plots--there was one that had a woman going back in time to a 1940s movie set and meeting a leading-man type character that they seemed to model after Cary Grant. They're also showing more diverse characters, different ethnic groups and even some gay characters, which is new for Hallmark and which, as you might imagine has some of the conservative viewers upset (I look at a Facebook fan group and it's hilarious how much controversy characters or plots or just little details of the movie can stir up!). I love the different plots and the diversity, even if I accept that they're sappy Christmas movies, there are only so many typical romance plots you can watch before getting sick of them!
Edited to add: They've also had a Hanukkah movie each of the last few years, and the ones from the last two years were really good!
I did delete emails, although as usual, I got caught up in some of the longer ones copying down book titles that I would like to look for. If I lived long enough to read all the book titles I have on my lists I would be 500 years old.
I took the dog out again, she wanted to go out just a few hours after her last visit. The grass is not only muddy, it's actually squishy, like stepping on a wet sponge. I don't get it, I never see any rain but it's always soaking wet outside. If it were raining at night the rain bucket would have something in it but it's usually empty. I have to figure out what I can do about the muddy spots, I have basic wood chip mulch that I can spread around but I'm wondering if it will be bad for the lawn mower once the grass starts growing through it in the spring. I'm perfectly happy if the grass disappears but there needs to be something in its place, like paving stones or some kind of ground cover, and I can't grow ground cover in the middle of winter.
I tried calling my senior client but she didn't answer and I didn't leave a message, since every time I leave one she calls and says "I saw you called and left a message, what did you say?"
Next I will print out 2 military letters and prep them for mailing, by then it'll be time to feed the dog again.
