ohblondie on the sale of your parents' house! That must be a big relief!
I think it's a good choice to postpone your retirement by a few months. Retiring is a big step and if you had any hesitation you have a few more months without major holidays and maybe other pressures to give your full attention to it. Plus the extra time giving you more money is a huge incentive to wait it out a bit!

I just talked to my shopping friend again for 45 minutes! She definitely is feeling better.
I still didn't finish my first list, I will do that now.

Diane, that was a LOT to do !! I hope your back doesn't pay too dearly for it. A little while ago, I changed all of my bed linens, way overdue, I might add. And my back is yelping hard. I just took some Tylenol which won't help much, but I'll take any relief I can !! Now I am resting while the med kicks in. I hope. We are expecting another storm tonight, but it is supposed to be rain and wind, not snow. I wish we'd have a good snow. Maybe next week, they're saying. catcats

~~~~~~~~ my little bird is here every day, comes around 5 pm and stays until morning. I am inordinately happy about it. it just gives me peace. I think it is a gift from God to have little bird here. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ That is a gift from God for sure! Little creatures that we take the time to appreciate fill our hearts and lift our spirits. So sweet!
~~~~~~~~~~ I have been dealing with people dying in my extended circle and have been at several wakes and funerals during the past few months. I have another wake tonight, an especially tragic one. it is making me relish each day as the gift that it is. ~~~~~~~~~~ I'm sorry you have those losses in your life now. It must be comforting for the people to have you present with them.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I also have been chatting with DD about things and for some reason I have had this revelation that I am keeping stuff that she will just toss upon my incapacity or death. I don't mean harshly and she did not say this, we did not even talk about stuff. But I was just thinking she has her future ahead of her, I think she will relocate and have an exciting wonderful life. It just made me think am I living in clutter because somehow having a pretty cocktail dress in a small size that I wore 20 years ago is worth it??? I really want a neat and orderly home while I am able to enjoy it! ~~~~~~~~~~~~ That's an important insight. I have clothes too, that I will never wear again but they are so pretty and the memories are so lovely. But no one else would want them or care. "Neat and orderly home" really would be a nicer choice.
~~~~~~~~~~~ I am really not that much into my old stuff, my biggest challenge is old DD stuff (she is not sentimental at all! I 'Rescued" sports teams uniforms from one of her purges). but I just love her baby stuff, her dollhouses, etc. I'll be like Scarlet O'Hara on that and leave it for tomorrow! ~~~~~~~~~ Bree, we are so much alike but you are SO much more aware than I am of what is needed in your life and you are doing all the good things now that are keeping your current life well-running and enjoyable. You handle the difficulties extremely well and live in the present with an eye to the future. I live way too much in the past. Continue everything you are doing ~ you are an example of how good life can really be. I especially enjoy how you appreciate all the little things that make life sweet like all the adventures with your good girl puppy!!

Hi everyone, all doing so much towards keeping the homes in good shape i see I had to wipe the fridge and microwave doors and the knob areas on the stove, trouble with cooing greasy food! DH had all the dishes done, so i put some away Made coffee and he made his breakfast I made a pot of mac n cheese from Auntie anne's box stuff, its not bad and i made 2 boxes worth to keep DH happy and fed. Using it as a side to the chicken and corn i picked up this week. I have to get ready for work soon, then i just work 2 short day s this weekend Diane, i am working 36 hours on the main job then 12 on the 2nd job over 7 days. 1 hour travel time and including shuttles from the parking lot. That's why i am not here often i usually come home and go to bed then i have 2 hours or so in the morning before i have to get out of here.

I booked a uhaul for tomorrow to start getting the last of the stuff out of my parents garage My niece is going to help me I called a local museum about some of my parents stuff I called a local Cushman furniture expert about selling the dining room set I think the last of the paperwork is in place to settle my aunt's estate My tenant finally has the rest of her December rent and her january rent so I am hanging out at work until it is time to go get it. I get out at 4 and she is home at 530. UGH - I just realized I should have used this time to run to Aldis to get some groceries. Oh well, I will read a book instead.
I guess once it starts to flow, everything starts to flow. What ever "clog" i had has broken free.

Wow oust, you're working a lot of hours! I hope your husband is pitching in enough to help at home while you're working so much.
Ohblondie, I'm so glad the house sale is in progress, I think you'll feel so much better once that whole project is over with.
Catcats, it's weird, I feel tired and a little generally achy but nothing in particular hurts from the shoveling. Maybe it's because I like shoveling, or at least, I get energy from being out in the snow. We are getting the predicted rain now, it's light, but the good thing is it's washing away the parts of the sidewalk that I didn't scrape all the way down to the bottom. More snow coming tonight.
Let's see, what have I done in the past couple of hours--I washed the rest of the dishes except a few that needed soaking. I put more seed out for the birds, and I tried to figure out where a package is that was supposed to come two days ago according to the post office morning list of my mail. Usually if something on that list doesn't come it either shows up the next day, or else they actually put it on the list again--this time neither things happened. At least it doesn't show delivered by the company, which means it's floating around the post office somewhere, hopefully they'll find it soon.

I did get some of the bed linens washed and dried and I folded, hung, and put away 2 loads left from yesterday. Vac'd through, emptied vac. Showered and washed hair. So glad I changed the bed earlier today. Took out trash and recycling. Fed the pussy cats and myself. Rinsed dishes and cat food cans. Brought in mail and processed it. Talked with my BFF in CT and also my DS. Texted with my DD. Winding down now. My best wishes to all for a good weekend.

catcats you accomplished a lot! Technically it is the weekend in my time zone but I decided to post here as it is about Friday. I was pretty productive at work After work I went to a wake for a very sad and tragic death. But a family of remarkable courage and grace. My prayers are with them. At the wake I saw former colleagues for the first time in over ten years some good people! It was my second wake in one week. Very different circumstances but the same in that there are grieving people. My heart is with them. The wake was on the other side of my city about a half hour away. Thankfully the rain and wind held off until I was back home. I made a quick run to buy pizza dough. Then I picked up puppy from daycare I made a homemade pizza I think for the first time ever! It is not really homemade as the dough, sauce, toppings and cheese were all bought pre-packaged from posh grocery. It was really good! DD was home and we had pizza and watched a show and I fell asleep in the couch with my little tribe with me. Really the best kind of night ever. I did the dishes. Put fresh dog and people blankets out. A storm is headed our way. Right now I am up too late listening to the rain hit the windows. Grateful for a warm and snug home w my family safe. Really and truly being here with my little family is the biggest blessing. So grateful.
