Wow TT, you ended up doing great today even with a late start.
Hello scholar and catcats!
Catcats, that's great about the CT scan. I hope you and the kitties settle in nicely at your daughter's!
I got the room A/C out and have it venting out of the window in the reading room, I figured I'd better put it in the room with the birds. The window A/C did a weird thing that reminded me of what happened to the microwave when it malfunctioned, at first I thought it might just be an electrical dip because it's hot and I'm sure a lot of power is being used, but then it did it again so I shut it off--electrical stuff terrifies me. And, at the same time, the GFCI outlet that my (new) microwave is plugged into tripped--so they must be on the same circuit. So I'm even afraid to reset that. My handyman was busy this week and next so isn't scheduled to come until the last week in June, which is the week after the heat wave (I hope--this heat wave had better not last more than a week!) So, I am very anxious about getting through, the room A/C is better than nothing but it's not great. I almost feel I should try to get the birds downstairs where the central air is more comfortable before next week. They are tropical birds but I don't think they would enjoy how hot it's going to get on the second floor if there are several days in a row of 95 degrees.
Tomorrow is 90 again, then 2 days in the low 80s so I'll be able to make up my mind about moving the birds tomorrow. I might be able to get someone from the family down the street to help me get the large cage down the stairs.
Ugh, the timing of this is terrible.
Good night everyone, see you tomorrow, at least in the early morning when it'll be cool enough to sit in this room at the computer!

What a busy week! Bree....praying for healing for your body and that terrible CHAOS.... thankful your DD is there
I got my car fairly cleared out....well for me....picked up dear friend from airport and headed off to college town for a reunion weekend. We had a great time.
I am back home trying to get back on track. I am settling into a routine. Monday AM I head to Laundromat and do massive loads of bedding and anything else that is backed up. Monday night help mom shower Tues I am trying to run errands in the AM then I take mom to visit dad Weds I am trying to do my Aldi run. The City mission is enroute so my goal is to drop off items then hit the store. Then my mom's to get her clean laundry put away Thurs is visit dad again Friday is do everything I didn't get done Saturday is help with craft at ALF Sunday is visiting again Then we are back to Monday
Every day I try to remove items from my car and put them away. Every day I try to pick one small area and tidy it up
Today I cleaned my fridge and did a pretty decent job of it! I will need to check the settings as it seemed like it was super cold and lettuce was frozen. I also scrubbed the heck out of my sinks. I have no idea how they got so bad. I also watered my plants. We are due for a hot day tomorrow and I wanted them to be prepared. I made grilled cheese for supper and there was no evidence of mice around the stove. Hurray.....one thing seems under control
Yesterday and today I ran a load of laundry. I just folded some to put away.
I just keep plugging away at things. I am hoping the baby steps will eventually add up
I have removed several bags of trash from the MBR and several bags of donate from the hallway. I really need to pick up the pace.
I returned 8 bags of bottles and it felt great to get them out of the way.
Ok. Time to do one more thing before bed.

@diane, I am thinking about you as you and your birds endure this heat wave, if you called the handyman could he come earlier? ohblondie , wow! You have established a wonderful routine, and you have removed so much! Way to go! bree , it’s been a while but I once mentioned that your Chaos sounds so much like my supervisor. Drives me absolutely insane! I call her Confusion. I think they may be sisters. Twins, even. I am so sorry you have to deal with her lack of concern for you and her general nonsense. scholar, I am intrigued by the body double thing…talked to my husband about it because I think it’s a strategy that will help me.

I have a friend coming over later today and I am very anxious about it, I am going to have to speed clean and “mad dash and stash” to get things presentable for her visit. I suggested sooooooo many things to do together outside of my home, but she is insistent to come here. Ugh. So stressful. I am also going to need to get myself ready … hair, dressed, etc. more Ugh. I am upset with myself that my home is in such a state that I can’t just be happy that a friend is stopping by. I need to turn that into motivation to keep decluttering and keep working toward my goals. Anyway … time to get started. I am cheering for all of you, today! No matter what your facing, you can do it! Just do one thing …and then another….and another, and posts your lists here so we can encourage one another.

Good morning!
I'm trying to think of only one day at a time. Hot again today, then 1 to 2 days of relief, they already raised the forecast high for Saturday. It only got to about 75 overnight so it didn't really cool the house off any.
I went outside for half an hour to do the bird baths/water bowls and do some weeding. We're supposed to have rain later this afternoon, but we're kind of on the edge so we might not get much. In a couple of hours, before it's really hot, I want to go out and wash out the second rain barrel. This morning I emptied the last few gallons that were in there to water a couple of things. I also started a load of laundry so it would be done early.
My big fear for the heat wave, which is now at least 6 days, would be power outages in the neighborhood. I always figured that if something went wrong at my house I could move the birds (and the dog, when she was here) to the neighbor's house, but if the whole block is out there would literally be nowhere for the birds to go. But I do tend to picture the worse thing that could happen, so I will try to not think about that now.
It's still somewhat comfortable upstairs so I'm going to try to do things up here before it gets too hot.

Morning Di, goodness, hope the rain brings some relief. We've had an awful "summer" so far, I had to put the heating on yesterday it was so cold.
Twinkle, you're doing great, how long left do you have? I crochet and hand quilt mostly. I used to knit, make jewellery and learnt to embroider not long ago so do have the stuff for them to store, but haven't done any for a while. I plan to sort out all my scraps though and knit a pattern I've seen by Margaret Holzmann safe at home. I'm really going to try and use up my stash before buying anything. Do you craft? X

womble, I papercrafg mostly. Scrapbook and make cards. Part of my stress this morning is I don’t know exactly what time my friend is coming. Could be in ten minutes could be in a couple of hours. I think I am going to throw a blanket over my dining room table. The sitting room is more than I can take on today I think.

Chaos and Confusion......the dynamic duo
I am getting so frustrated with myself. I am certainly busy and getting things done. But I am not attacking the piles in the LR that are preventing me from having people over.
There is so much to do. I tell myself that I am moving forward, but am I?
Ok. I can't waste time being so introspective. I need to get up and get something done. Maybe I need to match my time. Every 15 mins spent in one area means 15 in the LR.
So much to think about today

Ohblondie, have you joined any of the challenges? If not, pick a pile and say you'll go through the entire pile, even if it's a couple of items a day--it makes is so much easier when you're posting details!
Womble, I can't imagine being able to quilt, it seems to require such precision and patience! I'm reading one of the quilting novels by Jennifer Chiaverini right now--they're a light read, but the quilting details fascinate me.
I decided once again to go out before it got too hot, so I washed out the rain barrel. I also swept out the basement stair well, and just in time too, because as I was collecting my things to go inside, it started drizzling. This is just a short drizzle, the main rain is supposed to come later this afternoon, but this is nice--it will start softening the dry ground and then when (if) the rain comes later it can soak right in. That's one good thing happening, I guess.
Since the sky clouded over it's not so hot out right now, so I still have upstairs door and window open. Next I will call my decluttering client, and then see if there are any other things I can done upstairs before the temp goes up again.
