So, this is sort of a specialized challenge, but perhaps there might be somebody out there who can do this with me. You see, I have several library books here that are overdue. Not by a huge margin, but they need to go back just the same. I've renewed them online about three times now, putting off taking them back because I'm not done with them (they are crochet books and I needed some of the patterns), but since I have a fine above five dollars I can't renew them online any more. I've had these books long enough and they need to go back to the library. So........... I AM going to get the patterns copied, using my scanner. I'll just save them to the computer and pull them up as needed. A couple of the books are ones that would come in really handy all the time (reference-type books), so I'm going to write down the titles and order them from somewhere online. (I do have lots of books but they are ones I do use, plus I've gotten rid of a ton of them that I don't use, so I am not contributing to book squalor.) And since I am going to be in town tomorrow, I AM going to take these books back and pay my fine. If I can get the scanning done in time, I will just take them back tonight and drop them in the outside book return, since I do have to run to town later tonight. I also have a copy of Aladdin that has to go back to Blockbuster. It is so going back tonight (it is due tonight). So, the challenge...if you have books that need to go back to the library, or movies that need to go back to the movie rental place, or any sort of anything that needs to go back to someplace that you rented it from, now's the time. Let's get all the stuff back to where it belongs!

Hah! Done already. I returned the last straggler library book when picking up DH just now, before I even saw your thread. I do have fines to pay, but will take care of that next time we go in to borrow something.

Here's the dark side of Netflix: No due dates. Nope, you can just keep those movies....well, forever as far as I know!
Confession: I once kept a Netflix movie for about 6 months @ $9.99/month--and what's worse, I never even watched it
I have one I need to put in the mail tomorrow for sure!

I have three movies due back ages ago. I rarely rent because i never return them on time! this is across town, near family but when I have been near there, I have forgotten to bring them. I would like to rent near kiddo's school, maybe then i will get them back easier. The place i rent has no late fees, therefore no added incentive to return them! I will say i will return them by the end of the weekend.

I have 2 books due tomorrow that I am done with. I need to remember to take them with me when I go to work. I also have 2 days late charges from my last books, due to weather that I will pay also.

I did have every intention in the world of already having this done...but the best laid plans of mice and men and all that stuff. I didn't reckon on the power going out shortly after I posted this! It's back on now (obviously, I'm not posting by candlelight ), so I'm going to try and get this stuff scanned so I can take the books back tomorrow. Aladdin didn't get taken back, but oh well...I'll take it tomorrow and the fee won't be huge. It has been coming down with freezing rain and I just didn't want to leave, especially since the kids were here. I will get it done, though!

I have a library book that I took out several years ago, that my dog ate.
I told them what happened and they said I'd have to pay to replace the book. I didn't have the money. They put a freeze on my library card.
I haven't been able to use my library card all this time.
I could read books AT the library, but not take anything home.
I will go to the library this week to pay them for a replacement book, as I have the money now.
And then I can finally check books out!
And ... before I do that ... I will make a SAFE place to keep any library books, out of the reach of pets.
Thank you for this challenge.

CD returned yest. -- due today. On hold for someone-- cldn't renew.
Will renew the three due on the 23rd.
Took a bk to read from my shelf -- new yorker stories, 1940-50. It had a degraded library due card fall out of it's bk -- sometime in the nineties. No, not me - I adopted the bk. But this was a couple of days ago, and I thought about it.

I once waited long enough that the fine disappeared from my record.

Lucky you! I had quite a few books out when I had a sudden, debilitating illness and could no longer leave the house. Had no one to help me and, frankly, between trying to deal with everything else and just stay on the planet, the library books fell off my radar screen for a very long time. Now my account is in collections and the collection agency fees and fines alone added several hundred dollars on top of the book replacement costs. I accept full responsibility for this; just want to warn everyone what could happen.

wow, great idea for apost illuminata. thank you. some time ago i posted about the fact that the kids and i were going to use our local libraries as our very own book cases to assist me in getting rid of books we didn't want. and due to the fact that we love love love the library. well, no surprise here, but i still haven't sorted out my account there. we have books in this house, in my special safe wooden chest at the front door, where i keep borrowed things these days, that may have actually been there for a year! truly. will fix between now and Monday night. i promise. many thanks.

I am the worst about returning things on time. Like the 4 movies at home that I rented last Friday. Thanks for starting this thread. I will return them this evening. Good luck all! I've also been through the library book thing. I rarely borrow anymore.

Well, I'm partly done... I did get the copies made, and I did drop off the books in the library chute. I did not get inside to pay the fine (they were closed). I also did not get Aladdin returned...I had to work at the pantry today and left in such a hurry I forgot. I txtd my daughter and told her that since she and her dad were coming into town (eye appointments), to bring the DVD...the movie store is right beside the eye place. So, later, I txtd her again and asked if she brought it: um...crap So I'm almost done!
