I donated 2 large grocery bags of stuff to the shelter thrift store. There were probably 15 items of clothing included in the donation. As usual, I only donate clothes that are in good condition. A few of them were brand new. If I have new items for over a year, chances are that I will not wear them. Then sometimes, I receive an item that I know is not going to work for me. I am unwilling to pay the approx $7.00 to return ship. I'd rather give it away unless the item is very expensive. Then it would be worth it to pay the $7.00 to get my refund.
I reread Overdressed: The Shockingly High Cost of Cheap Fashion. I was reminded how high a cost to humanity and the planet purchasing fast fashion results in.

hiding on getting rid of two bags of clothing. That is so great. Im so happy to see that you are continuing to work on this. Ive threw away one shirt. It was old and it got a pull in the fabric, right where a woman does not want to draw attention to. It was very noticeable and not fixable. I liked it and wore it alot so it lived a full, useful life. I would have felt better recycling it but thats just too difficult right now. So i gave it amnesty before it wound up back in the dresser.

I brought a bag to work yesterday. Starting on another bag tonight. Already have items to put in.....like the shirt I ironed to wear this morning and realized it was not a true button up shirt but a pull over fake button shirt. URG>>>>> SHould always try on clothes before you buy.......though I think this came rfom goodwill so it wasnt too bad.......And I noticed this AFTER I got up erlier to do the ironing and AFTER I struggled to iron it.....

turkeyhill for dropping off those jeans. ohblondie on taking one bag to work and starting a second bag. Ive done a bit of chipping away at the clothes. Managed to throw some stained socks and a stained tank top out. Now im regretting it as i will be making a trip to the other thrift store. They sell "unsellable" clothing to a recycler that makes home insulation from them. Oh well. An elderly neighbor asked me to take some clothes to the thrift store. They needed to be sorted thru and i have a large kitchen bag of "unsellable" and two bags of good clothes from what she gave me. Also a bag of shoes. So i bagged up what i had decided to get rid of which came to 3 kitchen trash bags full. Plus 3 bags of housewares. Since i need to go over to that area anyway, i will be swinging by the thrift store. I may before i go, do a quick purge of my shoes. So there will be 2 bags of shoes. I think i can do that. Im kind of making it a contest to see if i can get rid of as much as the neighbor did. Since the thrift store also sells the shoes they cant sell (summer shoes as we head into fall), i dont think ill mind so much getting rid of all the summer shoes i didnt wear this summer.

You are all doing great! I am rejoicing how you'll be enjoying the roomier wardrobes - where you can find things you want to wear and where everything is something you love, use and that is flattering and fits.

Just got back from the donation center where I donated 3 overstuffed tall kitchen bags full of good clothing. When an article of clothing is stretched ,worn out, bleach spots and so on, I cut it up for rags. I got my receipt too which I will save for tax time.

You rock, ohblondie, well done for getting rid of those 80 clothes. I looked at some photoes recently and could not understand how could I wear something like that. I think the fashion is much youthfull now. At least those parts you can pick from all those clothes shops. Lets not talk about hoards here.
