This morning I threw away 5 books from the thrift store and 1 wire hanger. I only like plastic hangers but always feel this obligation to keep wired ones.

I have been remiss in posting! I got rid of a big pile of phone books. Had gone from foyer closet ( where I used to keep them on a shelf) to the garage, and never made it to trash. Out they went!
I also cleaned out my fridge, and I waste little of nothing.. but I tossed the remains of a ham and bone. Made way before Easter. I had bought it for little per lb, after Christmas, but not happy I wasted it. I did not get it into the freezer. I read this somewhere, Eternity: Two people and a ham! I gave myself 5 minutes of guilt, and out it went.
Anyone out there, One Item ( or more) a Day you can get rid of, can be a good thing!

A fancy little glass dish, for jam, or candy, or something I don't serve out of a fancy, teensy dish. And on top of that I never liked it, but kept it for 20 some years, because there's nothing wrong with it. To the donate bag.

I pulled from the attic, a bunch of stuff today, took it outside & was able to throw away a large trash bag of it. Part of it was hard as I still had a smallish box of things from our wedding & honeymoon. I saved just a little of that.
One of the things I threw away was the small used-up tube of toothpaste--Colgate's--that we shared on our honeymoon. It was 60 years old.
Also tossed my next to last cleaned-up cat pan. If I ever get another cat, I will buy a new one.

Going out today thanks to hubby is a HUGE pile of CRAP from the side of the house and back yard. There is a ton of old wood from old deck, old swingset pieces, old broken lamp from garage. Tossed old license plates from car into trash can (one of hubby's toss on garage floor and leave.) Tossed out a couple bottles of old medicine today from medicine cabinet.

We found a super old DVD player to get rid of, old baseball caps (weren't even hubby's, not sure where he got them), an old rolling 3-drawer wire basket thing (used for our son's blankets and diapers, etc when he was a baby), several broken keyboards, old play dough toys and play dough (had fallen out of the tub they were in and just on floor of garage and other stuff I don't even remember he tossed.
Hubby is working on loading everything up for dump.

Good Job Catcat and MamaAngie. Anything that is broke, is a good decision to get rid of it.
I have not been posting. I need to kick it into gear. I did not get my trash wheelie to the curb, I do not have a lot of garbage, only one kitchen bag in there. Not worth it in the rain! I try not to waste any food, and doing well with that. Only one yellow pepper and some frozen cranberries that are past their prime I tossed this week. My goal today is to find some items to donate. I do not buy much of anything, certainly not new. I have been on hiatus from thrift shopping, self imposed restraint. I went to the thrift shop with my guy friend on the weekend. I need to do the one in, at least one out for each item I got. I did practice restraint thrift shopping.
Catcat you are so sweet to keep mementos from your honeymoon. I kept a small piece of driftwood, 4 inches, from my honeymoon, on my desk forever, and I have not tossed it. Despite a divorce, I remember the good, along with the bad, my realist, yet sentimental side. If you have digital camera or a cell phone camera, you might want to take a photo to remember some item(s). Easy today to keep, or delete later if you want.
I have kept up with the mail, junk or otherwise, coming in, and today I quick tossed grocery sales fliers, because new ones will come today. I fixed my toilet, I had to order a part on line, and thought should I keep the old part.. hoarder thinking! I will keep the small package to the old one, and put the on line address with it. I of course have to have a toilet with parts that you can not just go to Home Depot, or even the plumbing supply place. The shipping was almost as much as the small part! So that broken part went in the trash this morning also!
Keep going all, and it all adds up. I need to work on getting rid of more things to donate. What item have you tossed or got rid of today?

A few things that were in a paper grocery bag in my doomed bedroom. I never seem to get it done, just areas of it. And it is not a big bedroom. Pitched some, put some away & they will maybe make the next cut !

Reluctantly tossed an old ceramic handmade mug that my dear aunt made in her "ceramics phase." She had made one for my Mother too, tossed earlier. We had written our names on them before they were fired in kiln. These were from my teenage years. My aunt died 3 yrs. ago, about three months before her 100th birthday.
Hard to toss, but I have other things that she made for me in some of her other creative phases. She was very special.

Tossed a little thing that had little clothespins to hang "smalls" on in bathroom. I just use a couple of plastic hangers. Started a new donation bag of clothes. One was a pair of slacks that never fit b/c they were way too tight. Never wore them. Tried them on & they are huge on me. Donate. I wonder what brief period of time they would have fit me.
Also found pr. of DH's slacks & a corduroy blazer of his that were in den closet. Thought I had given away all of his clothing except for a very few keepers. I did that right after he died. No problem. This time, I cried. Just didn't know they were still there.
