Oh that sounds lovely jendela. Good for you buying a new tool like that dayeanu. I bought some craft supplies at the local thrift. I bought Aida cloth for cross stitch. 3 brand new packages for .99 each. A bag of embroidery floss. I have lots and lots of floss now which is great. Some of these are metallics too which is great for jewelry. Also, they had a label maker that is the same kind as the one I already have. I might keep it for back-up or give it to my Mom. She would love a label maker. It was only $2.99 and looks barely used, if at all.

jendela sounds lovely! angela, I'm glad you found dome bargains! I wish I knew how to do needlework. I did a sampler on plain muslin when I was a girl scout, learned from following directions in a book, but have never attempted to do counted cross stitch. I'd like to get back to doing some crafts. I bought a giant bird cage. Ordered it on line. 6' X 3' What was I thinking??? It will be nice for the bird, but huge in my house! It was delivered yesterday evening. Its pieces are currently in boxes in the back of my truck. I shall take the parts inside this morning and assemble it. I really wanted it for the sun room, but until I get that sealed in, it's way too cold out there.

Hi angela - I saw your new label maker in your video - what a bargain! BTW, I agree with everyone else that you have a lovely speaking voice. dayeanu - I know that if I had a bird I would be getting as large a bird cage as I could possibly manage, so I support you in that purchase. Hope it is not too hard to set up. Today - well I bought a footed cake stand that I love but don't need. I really need to stop going into 2nd hand shops, I find it really hard to resist retro glass/crystal.

Spoiled bird is rarely ever placed in a cage, maybe a couple of hours a week, which is not particularly the best for him. I should put him to bed in his cage every night, for his own safety. I just wanted him to have plenty of room when he is confined.

House is getting a brand new roof on Saturday. Roofers postponed til Monday. Apparently they hadn't finished up on their other job. My little rosemary bush Xmas tree topiary is looking pretty sad so I broke Down and got a small potted pine type thingy that came me with some red bulbs. Hopefully this one will live thru Xmas. I bought a giant star to top it with and a battery operated short string of 20 multicolored lights, only bc I knew I had the not-included 3 AA Batteries at home.
i never decorate for Xmas so this was huge. I don't decorate bc I get super stressed and depressed shopping for Xmas decorating stuff. And when I do buy the stuff, I get stressed trying to set it all up (ADD???). The tangled, strings of lights push me over the edge! Hanging each bulb on hurts my brain. So yes I got depressed and stressed at walmart today trying to pick the stuff out, really I was, about in tears and this isn't the first year that has happened. I feel so overwhelmed, I usually put everything back and leave the store with nothing. But this time I pushed thru and got the little, tree, lights, star, and then when I got home was finally excited to,set it all up, but soon was on verge of breakdown when I found out I needed a tiny screw driver to open up the battery pack to put the batteries in for the lights, and I didn't have one (I think hollyhock had the same screwdriver issue with her battery operated lights, but i don't think that pushed her over the edge ) I found the receipt and was ready to return everything to walmart. But then I ended up going to the dollar store instead, got the needed tiny screwdriver But also found a few more things to put on my little tree including two silly looking white turtle doves. Now everything is all set up, lights on,,star on top, doves attached securely, and it looks lovely on the coffee table. And i trashed, that tiny screw and put a piece of,tape,on the battery pack bc I don't want to go thru this again next year!!

I've not been part of this thread but I thought I ought to be accountable for things I've spent money on recently. I've been a scrooge for so long but that's no excuse for going overboard.
Treats to self: shredder from Amazon Basics, their 'store' brand $70 glacee apricots from norm thompson $23 (I will gift some of them if I can figure out a nice way to present them) manicure and pedicure $40 including tip t-shirt from Costco $12 scoop neck thermal top from Costco $10 case (12 bottles) of wine for $70 with $100 voucher and special pricing. some retail at $30 apiece!, quite a bit out of my range. some will be xmas presents.
wow, I've been spending a lot! I was afraid of that.

Another short 5ft string of angel lights. Battery powered. I had the required batteries and screwdriver. Yay. No stress. Have them hanging on the dining room window curtain rod. I just might get the hang of this decorating thing as I figure out what works for me. Long strings of lights and extension cords don't!

Acquired little cushioned bed meant for little dog at dollar store yesterday. The cat has claimed it as her own! I didn't know she wanted a special bed, she's always so cozy in boxes of papers,,baskets of laundry, etc! But she's been hanging In this one all day long so it is hers.

cleanbee it sounds like your house is going to be really pretty with those lights throughout. I'm glad the kitty likes her bed! lostchild, sounds like you have the basics covered. These are gifts for DM and DD? Hi sparkle. It does make a difference when you see it written down. I can't say it's stopped me entirely but when I write, "bought yarn" again and again, it does make me pause a bit!

lostchild, well done for all the presents purchased. Have you finished your holiday shopping now? cleanbee, I had to laugh when I read that your kitty has claimed new dog bed for herself - sounds like typical cat behavior. and well done for the Christmas decorating, sticking with the shopping and persevering until you got the lights working. Sometimes when I feel overwhelmed I try to stop and focus on my breathing, and go back to what my long term goal is. Sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't. Hi @sparkle, it sounds like you got some good deals for basic necessities as well as treats and presents. Hmmm, I hope today's purchase will be the last one for quite a while, and in fact I have purchased on behalf of my Mom as a Christmas gift to myself. It is a retro dressmakers dummy, to be used for decorating purposes. I have wanted one for a while, or think I want one - it is fairly basic, has a metal stand not the lovely wooden stand. And I have promised DH if it doesn't work out I will re-sell.

There's an article in the Sunday newspaper that says sales are slumping at some of the big clothing retailers, especially for the teen market... such as Abercrombie & Fitch, Aeropostale, and American Eagle.
I think that may be the reason why Old Navy has such a radical store-wide sale going on this week. I stopped in tonight and got 3 tops, for $4 each, marked down from $10 each. These are current merchandise, not leftovers. Seemed like everything in the store was 40%-80% off. There were nice puff vests, orig $30 now $18. I might go back tomorrow.
