Aww a dove. That's wonderful cleanbee. Good for you getting her a cage she seems to enjoy more now.

I received another Christmas gift box, this time from my friend and neighbor whose father died a month after S.
She gave me a gorgeous gold necklace with a guardian angel charm, a decorated vase-style accent lamp, hot chocolate, biscotti, and spoons dipped with chocolate that you can stir into coffee and such.
I'm still trying to get things put away, I have a lot of sweets and cookies with no place to put them. And Christmas stuff that I took out to wrap gifts.

Today I bought a plaid tablecloth for the dining table in the morning room.
Yesterday, I bought a copy of the book, Simple Abundance, a calendar for my DD, and a cute Christmas harness that was on clearance.

I would like to share with you something I noticed about acqusitions:
When I put away my new books, my room suddenly got a different feeeling - as if the energy changed.
I felt something like that when I decluttered for the first time - it was like more air and sunshine got into the room. There is a very thin line between having the right amount of things and too many or too few. Before Christmas I got some little gifts from friends and wanted to put them away from a display - but the room suddenly felt bare and I had to put some back. On the contrary, when I put these new books away, the room uplifted and I had to put away some decorations I had on my bookshelf - they felt cluttery.
I do not know if I make any sense to you. Have anyone ever felt something similar?

I have noticed the different "air" when I've cleaned an area. Putting away bags of groceries gives the kitchen a different feel, too. It's more than just 'ah, it's neat'.

Hi cleanbee - how is your little dove liking her new, bigger cage? She sounds really sweet. My (guilty) acquisition is buying an expensive, herbal tea blend. I have been trying to resist this expenditure, but it is my favourite tea, that is just as nice hot as cold. So I treated myself.

another impulse buy! I was at my favorite type of store today - the organizing/storage store and I have bought myself a special pet fur remover brush. It can be used on clothes and furniture. I haven't tried it out yet, but there is so much cat fur in this house, on my clothes and the furniture, even a small reduction would be an improvement. If it works then I am going to buy one for my friend who has the same problem.

Two new lampshades, a tube of lotion and a small bottle of Goo-Gone (this is for the stickers on db's rental property windows).
DD & I also went to a fabric store and I didn't buy a thing!

I bought myself some decorations for a Christmas tree - those I could not find before Christmas, just to get it ready for the next holiday, because I came accross a great bargain - 75% off. I also bought empty CDs and DVDs so I can save photoes and audiobooks.
And I bought a new book in a series I love yesterday - it is actually a gift, I bought it with a gift money I got in December (saved them for this book). Never before did I have a new book at home just two days after it was published!
And I got a line of glass beads as a late Christmas present a week ago and today I found a place for them - the line of white blueish beads is hanging off my black wardrobe key.

Some nice and useful acquisitions lately, but a LOT of acquisitions in excess of my needs. So more stuff to rehome.
Been helping my friend get moved so much of her sample stock has come home with me.
What I will use immediately: 3 pairs of thick Smart Wool socks, score! 2 pairs of another brand of socks, one pair a thinner, compression type, and one pair a thick thermal sock. About 20 new wooden clothes pins About 8 canisters of a good hot cereal mix 2 bottles of olive oil More skin care products. I probably have more than I will use in the appropriate time so I will sort through and see what I really need to release. Essential oil scented air freshener sprays Same with lotions and body wash, lots and lots. Laundry soap formulated for baby clothes, it will clean my clothes too I would think Sponges Microfiber cloths Tea, all sorts and lots of it. I will pull out some for my use but much will go to the food bank Collagen supplements Vitamin D supplements, hooray! High doses too. I might actually have some luck getting my levels up. Meal replacer powders LOTS of various green powders, wheat grass, barley grass, super greens. Artichoke hearts Vegetable flavored no-soak lasagna noodles, 3 packs Balms of all sorts Essential oil based perfumes. Yum. A little aromatherapy diffuser that uses a AAA battery to run a little fan that blows through a pad that you put some drops of essential oil on. Many of the diffusers need to be plugged into an outlet and I only have two outlets in all of my upstairs where I live. So this little battery one will be nice. 3 string grocery bags. I used to have some of these and they wore out. They are my favorites for farmer's market produce. I also brought home 3 packs of cloth produce bags. I'm not quite sure what I think of these. I can bring these back for the moving sale if I change my mind. Also one cotton mesh produce bag.
So these are the things that I will use, but there is much much more brought home that I will not be using. I will be rehoming this other stuff.
Some things I am tempted to bring home but have so far resisted: A yoga mat in colors I like Matching yoga mat bag Matching yoga block Matching medium size balance ball and air pump
Definitely stuff for a life I don't lead but think I should! And it's new, colors I like doesn't take much space, free, etc., etc. Also a ton of fitness DVD's. Yoga, pilates, etc.
Pack of multi-colored file folders. Will probably bring these home as I do need them and use them and they match what I already have. An unopened bag of sushi rice, again, a "life I don't lead but would like to" item. I adore sushi, have taken a class to learn how to make rolls, and would eat it every day if I could.
Half gallon Ball jars. I might do a couple more of these. I use these and gallon jars to store emergency water and bulk goods like rice.
A small digital scale. I bought one last week to use for the spinning event but it didn't work so well at the pad was flush to the read out. I am thinking of returning it and bringing home this other one. The pad is elevated so would work better I think. There is also a large postal scale with a large separate pad and the read out attaches with a long wire, so it would be really good for the fiber shipping I do. Though to be honest, my 50 year old metal spring scale works quite well too. I have weighed things at home with it to an ounce and when I take it to the post office, the weight matches so that tells me my funny little scale is pretty accurate.
A natural foods cookbook...another "should" thing. It is an excellent book but unless and until I find a reason to cook better for myself, it will just sit in a box with the other good cookbooks I have.
So I'm just thinking through what I will actually put to use in the near future. I have no doubt there will be a lot of sale leftovers after the moving sale next weekend, especially opened food stuffs. I need to make sure I have a plan in place so this stuff doesn't add to the hoard in my own house.

More work with my friend, more acquisitions:
3 rolls of tape, the kind you put on a tape dispenser. I have needed this for a while and hadn't bought any. A box of little bottles of essential oils. More than I need so some may go back for her sale. 2 canvas straps that are meant to be used for yoga poses when you can't reach. I can definitely use these for any kind of stretching. Seaweed salad, several bags worth. Some Nature's Miracle.
I think that's it.

I ordered a book, "Meals in a Jar". For canning complete meals in a jar.
As a complementary gift, they sent me "5 reusable produce bags with drawstrings."
The bags are nylon mesh.
They are about 1' X 1 1/2' in size.
What the heck do I use them for?
Are they to take shopping to carry produce in?
Are they for storing produce, as in hanging up to let air circulate?
Are they for refrigerator storage?

One in, one out. A new hairbrush for blow-dry styling to replace the old one whose handle broke this weekend. The new brush is much better quality, made by Bass, so I hope it will last and last. I have one other Bass brush (flat), which has lasted for years and looks just as nice as when I first bought it (8 years ago, I think).
