Acquisitions at the thrift store today: Black no-wale corduroy jeans, almost new, great brand, super cheap. Tweed blazer in brown, green, coral colors. Worn but in good shape. I will purge the similar blazer that doesn't fit anymore though it pains me to do so. Bought groceries today. I've been eating out of the pantry and from the boxes of samples but I just kept missing my milk, cheese, butter, cottage cheese, tomato soup, and spinach.

I feel like I acquired something yesterday but can't remember what! I did post the box of bottles of essential oils didn't I? I used my little tiny battery powered aromatherapy diffuser. It doesn't have too much oomph but it is enough for the little upstairs sitting room.

Yet another book for free and a little bit of a strategical planning to make space for it.

I am a bit embarrassed at my profligate recent acquisitions. Yarn, yes, lots of it too. And beads. Another micro-fiber throw, this one for the couch in the sitting area. Underwear. 2 turtlenecks, a cardigan, earrings, and a necklace at the thrift store. I actually might take some of this back.

I keep hearing about microfiber sweepers. Let me know how yours works out jendela, how it works on pet hair, etc! And I hope the calabacitas are yummy! Mine turned out very good. I love to squeeze a little lime on top before serving and eat it with corn tortillas and sliced avocado. I already finished mine, but I might make some more with spanish rice to go with.

cleanbee I like my microfiber sweeper for picking up dust, animal hair and such. I use a regular broom for the big chunks of stuff, but I use a regular cheap little Swiffer that has the holes on top to poke the edges of the cloth in. I bought a package of microfiber cloths in the automotive section and cut them to fit. They are great for sweeping and especially for mopping. I later bought a bigger sweeper from Flylady, but use the same automotive quality microfiber cloths for it. I love it. I will likely never use anything else. A spritz of water on the microfiber really boosts dust and grit pick up.

Another vote for microfiber sweepers. I have one called Star Mop, bought it years ago at a local fair in the commercial building. The pads attach with velcro and have lasted and lasted. Good for dry to wet floor work. So I returned the yarn yesterday, all but one skein which has an immediate use in a throw I am making. Returned most of the beads, not surprisingly I already had some of these strands in my stash! The ones I kept are the smaller spacer beads which make full use of the bigger, focal beads. I returned the microfiber throw since I found that Target has an electric heated throw in the same color for $10 more. That's what I've really wanted for this sitting area anyway so that is good. Returned the cardigan and the jewelry to V V. They only do exchanges so I looked through the sweaters again and found a soft dusty lilac ribbed cotton cowl neck sweater which can replace the darker purple one that never looked good on me (too dark though I love the color). I went back to Target and bought the bed-in-a-bag, a matching lamp, a gold color micro-fiber throw for the office area for when I'm sitting freezing at the desk, and a mustard yellow twin size quilt to potentially replace the fabric cover that is currently on the futon. I will be returning all of it. Because, when I got home and looked on the website again, I saw that there is an online offer for $25 off purchases over $100 with free shipping over $50, but website only! So I will return the things, place the order on the website, get the discount and could do store pick-up. I might use the chat function to see if they will let me return and buy over the phone or online instead of running back into town. If not, it isn't so bad to go back in. I went to Joann's Fabrics looking for some print fabric to match the bed-in-a-bag to replace the fabric that I have on the dresser, around the bird cage, and on the bedroom lamp shade. I was hoping to find a floral or stripe with a few different colors but anything I found to match would be really monochrome. Or, a couple matching fabrics were in grey and yellow which seems to be an "in" combination right now. It looks fresh but I really don't want to go with gray. I was hoping for a bit of green in a print with maybe a bit of a warm color. I really only need a smidge of fabric to do those three things, only about a yard and a half. Hobby Lobby was a strike-out too. Did find some home dec fabric that could potentially work for curtain panels and it is 60% off for the week. Thinking.

Good for you for managing the shopping gymnastics to get the best deal. It is always so frustrating when I discover I bought something that could have been ordered for less. The other thing that always happens to me - my order is typically a few dollars short of the minimum free shipping!
Anyway, it sounds like you've picked out some nice things! It will be lovely when you get it all together! And WTG on the heated throw!

Hiya cleanbee, dayeanu & angela, good work with some well-considered purchases. I am always happy to hear when you guys are getting stuff that will improve your lives. Today's purchase (well, actually from last week but I hadn't got around to fessing up) a set of 8 glass food prep bowls (mise en place bowls). They were quite expensive, but oh, they are so good. They stack very neatly, are light weight and a delight to use. cleanbee, regarding the calabacitas - I was v pleased with the outcome, even though I used a very simple internet recipe that used tinned sweet corn - I am sure that this isn't the proper way. I added a good splash of my new green jalapeno chilli sauce and yum! I wish I had thought to serve it with some avo - I had some in the fridge I could have used. I served the calabacitas as a side dish with BBQ lamb backstrap cooked by my DH on the grill. Oh, and I used my new food prep bowls too!
