I went on a shopping spree on Friday, I almost forgot to post what I bought.
1. Food for me and others 2. Bird seed for birds 3. A doormat that was on clearance sale. I probably shouldn't have bought this, but I do like it, and it is at the door on the floor, so is being used.
I think I also forgot to post that I bought some things last Monday to repair a broken plumbing fitting. I got something called a shark bite angle stop to replace a leaky fitting under the kitchen sink and some wood filler to fill the hole in the bottom of my kitchen cabinet, where the wood rotted through.

Fell off the wagon Friday night and went to Marshalls and shopped the clearance aisle. For $3 I bought a sign for my daughter's room...."tidy room tidy mind". This is the daughter in NC. ..... I bought a sweater which I will return. I bought my daughter a Dansk casserole dish. Lid turns into trivit to set the dish on. Marked $59 and I paid $15. I can't remember what else I got. Oh a nice water bottle to stay hydrated. On clearance. I think the week just got to me and I retail therapied for awhike. I wandered more than anything.

For under $3 I bought one of those super absorbant cushiony absorbant pads that you put under the dish drainer. I bought a bright red one to play off the red tea kettle. I actually cleared off the counter to the right of the sink and spread out the pad and put the dish drainer on it. It looks wonderful!

The lunch bag I ordered on Etsy arrived yesterday. I LOVE it. It appears to be very well made. It's made partially out of recycled fabrics, upholstery, denim, and decorated with old buttons. Also, a few weeks ago, I had mentioned to someone at work that I really liked my old lunch bag but it was falling apart, beyond repair. (The one that they had given us at work about 5 years ago.) One coworker said that she only used hers a few times, and if she still had it she would bring it in for me. When I came into work on Tuesday it was sitting there with my name on it. It needs some minor repairs but is in good shape. (For some reason the stitching comes out on these, but they are insulated and are just the perfect size for me.
Last evening i bought a lot of food and filled my tank with gas. No other purchases.

Blondie, I use the hard plastic drainer tray that came with my drainer. I have looked at those absorbent pads, but was afraid that I would leave it all soggy on the counter.

A black ink cartridge for my printer and more printer paper. Today will be only consumables (groceries, gas and feed). Oh, I forgot that I'm also planning on paying my taxes while I am in town.

@imames..I usually spread out the absorbant pad and set the dish tray on it then then the dish strainer on top. the pad sticks out past the tray and gives me extra space to put wet stuff to dry. But the tray under my dish strainer has been getting pretty skeevy and gross so I am trying the strainer on top of the pad.
My goal is to get stuff washed then put away so if the pad is wet I can drape it across the top of the dish strainer to dry. If it is sopping wet - I will have to go to plan B which would likely involve the dryer.
When I was REALLY on top of my kitchen game (It was Nov 11, 2014) I would put the dishes away, put the tray and the stainer in the cupboard under the sink with the pad sread out on top to dry.....
I will let you know how it works.

I buy a new dish drainer and tray to match every 10 years or so. I was at a friend's house yesterday and noticed that she had a Kitchen Aid dish drainer on her counter. That thing was huge! I'm also sure that it was expensive because of the brand. Mine come from WalMart.

Saturday evening I went to Ikea and spent about $50. I bought 2 photo frames. (I had ordered 4 photos back in December that I planned to frame and give as gifts, but they are still in the envelope.) I bought a clip on light and some measuring spoons for DD. I bought 3 lights that I plan to make into mason jar lights for the kitchen I might decide to buy a couple more.

I am happy to report that I went to a small town full of antique stores yesterday and wasn't even tempted to go in one, much less buy anything. Of course paying my land taxes might have had something to do with that.

lucie..I was just re-reading and catching up on some older posts in this thread. I think I just read Whiskey Beach my Nora Roberts. It was pretty good. Angels Fall looks good as does the Black Hills one. If I remember correctly - her books have such an element of suspense. You think you have it akll figured out and WHAM there is a surprise ending. I love books........ I have a huge tower of books to donate.....

Ally, what a pretty idea! I hope yours is a nice decoration for you. Have done some recreational shopping at the local thrifts this last week. Lots of reasons. Anyway, nothing outrageous, just the usual treats. A big, cushy, tweedy, blue cabled turtleneck sweater. Have worn it a few times now. It's like wearing a big cushy sleeping bag. Yesterday, a nice multicolored wool vest and a matching turtleneck for underneath. Some embroidery thread in greens and oranges. A bag of buttons with some amazing vintage blue buttons. Two balls of green crochet cotton. Two sage green deep bowls for soup or salad. A vintage framed print of a Paris street scene. I might not keep it. I have some that are nicer that I haven't even put up yet. Groceries, cat litter supplies, cat food, goat food, hay, etc.

angela , that cushy turtleneck sounds divine. My purchase today is totally consumable... 30 stems of daffodils for $5. I divided them between two hand-blown Mexican glasses, the kind with bubbles in the glass and a rim of blue. They look wonderful and so cheery!
