This thread is all sparkly & glittery and lots of light! Welcome Glitter! Yeah, that "just right" thing hangs us up in lots of areas. dtesposito good job on the vomit & rerouting your light fixture plug in. At the bottom of the basement stairs, there has been an oil spill. Clear. No drip marks from the ceiling, nor did it look like it oozed up through the concrete. Also, it did not come from my nearby boxes. 6/13 Sat anti-procrastination - Clean oil spill, sweep basement stairs 6/20 Sat anti-procrastination - started bath cleaning 6/21 Sun anti-procrastination - finished cleaning bath, cleaned up dog vomit near front door & 3 spots diarrhea in dining room. (Dog died May 5, so was definitely a procrastination) DR is my only goat path room & the spots were right on the path, so I, like, ~danced~ through the dining room. See, Diane & Unswamping, you are not the only ones with Level 3 issues. 6/22 Mon anti-procrastination - clear & sweep basement landing Now, confession time: All this cleaning was done because I had a sewer pipe issue, and had to call/let in the landlord, then let in plumber. (All Done-fixed Wed 6/24) Do I still get to count the anti-procrastinations?

mouseanne im sorry about your dog. Its really hard losing a furbaby. Yes, your anti procrastinations count! Great job on cleaning up that oil spill. I had an oil leak once in my basement. The guys that cleaned it up said that concrete is very porous and will soak up oil. Then after you have cleaned it up, it will reappear. So maybe it was an old spill that was resurfacing? WTG on cleaning up the pet squalor. Im sure that was difficult.

Hi mouseanne, yes, I think those of us with animals will always have the messy stuff to clean up--I just would like to try to do it sooner in the future. Swamped, the weather will sometimes dictate when we can get to our work--I don't blame you for not wanting an electrical cord touching the wet grass, I have a particular fear of electric and fire risks.
Yesterday I did another item, which makes me up to date through this week. The dryer vent came off the back of the dryer a while ago, so when I run the dryer the lint flies all over that corner of the kitchen. I've been reaching behind there and trying to push it back more or less into place before turning the dryer on, but it always gets pushed out again. So yesterday I moved the dryer out from the wall, loosened the fastener, re-attached the vent and fastener so that's secure, at least for now! I also swept the floor and wall behind the dryer. The dryer doesn't even heat, but I still use it to fluff the cat hair and lint off the clothes before I hang them up to dry. So that's done!

I finally mowed the lawn the other day. I need to weed whack still. Its been raining every day and things are very wet here. I dont want to run the extension cord through the wet grass. Is it electricity & damp grass, or because you will have a cords connection (plugged together) in the damp grass? If it is the cords connecting, you can cut holes in two corners of a ziplock baggie & have the connection inside plastic. You can even tape the holes tighter if you want.

Moved some bamboo stakes out of sight. That was it. Took no time at all. They were left over from last year's garden. I see them daily and know they're out of place but then I get distracted and do something else and go back in the house and months go by even though I sit out there several times a day. Anyway, it's done now. I find this thread helpful.

mouseanne i have a fear of electricity and water like Diane. I mowed wednesday and the grass was so wet the mower clogged four times. The mower is gas powered. The weed whacker is electric. I dont have any outdoor outlets and inside, i have no GFI outlets. I need to run a 100 ft extension cord from the foyer, out the door, across the deck and into the yard. It rained wednesday night. It rained yesterday. I had left my weeding bucket on the covered deck and it was entirely full this morning. I just looked at it, its 16 inches high. There is a hole in the deck roof so it got runoff from the roof, but it was still alot of rain. It is supposed to rain again tonight. The grass is so wet, i have mushrooms that popped up in the sunny part of my yard. Im not going to worry about it too much until the rain stops. My neighbors directly across the street from me have not mowed since last summer. Between their tall grass, trash bags, trash cans and general debris, my yard looks like a palace.

sparkle great work on moving those stakes. I do that too, see things that need to be done, get distracted and months later, it still needs doing. Im trying to do things right away now if it is something that will take less than five minutes. I was putting things on a to do list but by the time i find the list and a pen that writes, i could probably have just done it. So im trying to do it when i see it. Of course, sometimes i get distracted in even that short few minutes.

Unswamping I understand about electricity water and shocks. Nothing to mess with. Ok on oil leak, I'll keep an eye in it. dtesposito WTG on dryer vent @sparkle great putting away the bamboo stakes. There's always a distraction/something else to do isn't there? Sat 6/27 had scraped the bottom of two large coffee cans, but not completely emptied or tossed. Filled the newly washed glass elephant canister. Got sheet of paper creased it and shook out the last dribble of grounds. Tossed the cans, too. (I have saving ccoffee can issues. ) Sun 6/28 I thot I did something I wanted to list, can't think of it ATM, so will count a laundry avoidance since April item that is now in the washer. I know this is a weekly thread. Im trying to do dailies. Not to show you all up, but I have SO MANY little procrastinations. Like hang up a coat...when it's 90* weather.

Great work, everyone!
Im trying to do dailies. Not to show you all up
Mouseanne, go for it! I too have so many things to choose from--but I think the biggest value of this thread to me is that it's pointing out the things I procrastinate on--instead of just thinking "yeah, I have to do that some time soon" I now think--"hmm, how long have I been saying I'm going to do that?" I'm being more mindful of the things I put off for ridiculously long periods of time. My hope is that eventually I can catch the "I'll do it later" thought and think instead "this won't take long, I'll just do it now."
I bought something at the local hardware store today that will be a huge item for this thread--unfortunately, I don't think I can get to it this week (ha ha!). I've lived in this apartment for something like 18 years, and shortly after I moved in here I bought a bunch of window locks to install. Well, the windows here are so old and rickety that the locks I bought don't work properly, I needed a different kind. EVERY SPRING I say--if I want to keep windows open at night or when I'm not home, I really need to get those window locks. And every year I procrastinate until fall, when I say--"next year".
Well, I was in there to buy something else, and because someone slipped ahead of me in line and I had to stand there and wait, I was reading the signs over the aisles and "window locks" caught my eye. I went down the aisle and saw they had the old-fashioned locks that are the kind I need, at a reasonable price, so I bought 5 of them right then! Installing them will involve getting my drill and super-long extension cord out, but I am determined that this is the year I'm going to get window locks!
My item for this week will probably be what I bought the other item for--a small plant clipper. People put large plant stems in the compost bin, which take forever to break down, so I pull them out and put them on the side of the bin--since we're going to be decluttering the building yard some time in July, I'm going to cut those plants down into small pieces so we can actually put them into the bin without them blocking anyone's access to the compost. I've been saying I wanted to do this since early spring! So, I hope I'll be able to get to that in the next few of days.
Diane

out of town - working vacation July 1-6.
Today at supper (I generally eat on the couch with a tray in front of TV), I pulled all the papers & general detria* under the side table. I shredded the shreds, recycled the junk mail & newspaper bits. One tear out I could not for the life of me tell why I had saved it. The article was about um exotic products seized by the state for non payment of state taxes, sales, etc, to be sold at auction. Mayhap I intended to stick it on the bulletin board as a joke. (tax accountants) Anyway, I got down to bare carpet. The little bits i stuck in a small box on the side table shelf. There were three sheets of paper I saved. A banana bar recipe, a car repair bill.
*detria: I used to know this word, cannot now spell it well enough to find it anywhere. It means piles of random stuff.

Package mailed. It was napkins and quilted placemats I made. Package was so light, it had to go priority. If I had put a brick in it, it would have cost less.
Crazy.
