I put up more docrations and wiped, dusted and hoovered. This basic cleaning - not very thorough took me 90 minutes. UGH.
This week's goal is to keep my home tidy even when my sister and niece are there. My sister has to confirm if we spend christmas in her home, if so I need to get a bus ticket on Thursday. And guess what: dusting, wiping and hoovering on Saturday again. I have more visitord coming on Sunday.

this week's challenge is all things PAPER. that means filing, sorting, homing and recycling papers. put important papers where i will act on them, and make a plan. finish assembling calendars i make so they can be mailed by year's end with cards and any packages. write up some quick Christmas/holiday cards. glue some greeting cards that i make. transfer info from scraps of paper into a book or file - or decide to toss most of them.
because i am subsidized and also get some SSI, i really do need to keep hard copies of papers because someone is always asking for them or copies of them.
write down expenditures in my book. start 2015 taxes - stuff like that. i got way behind on the papers through avoidance and overwhelm. today i worked on this project for a couple hours.
i am going for tangible results in the home and reduction of the piles. papers are one of my biggest challenges, and hardest to make decisions and systems that work for keeping them organized. i would like to end the year feeling like i have done something to make up for all the avoidances.

I guess I made my flat really comfortable, my sister did not have a problem returning things to their place. I did the cleaning and baked a cake. My friend is stoping by soon and then my former neighbours are coming.
Next week I need to iron and put away the laundry I did yesterday and do the christmas grocery shopping.

I've been using this thread most as a place to list my expansive list of to-do's. Some of them are not getting done, but I'll keep listing them. Goals for today: Clean out cat boxes Laundry Refill bird feeder Water houseplants Check on chicken coop. There is something going on with the outside power. It stopped working, and then started again, and now has quit again. I really need it to work during these cold days because it keeps the water in the chicken coop from freezing and also keeps a small hole in the surface of my little pond from freezing (I learned the hard way that my fish and frogs all die if that hole is not kept open.) Wrap gifts Work on water project, Yes, this has been on my to-do list for a month or more. Clean up kitchen Cut up turkey that I baked a couple of days ago. I will put it in recipe sized portions in the freezer to add to soup, etc. Start baking! (If I feel like I have the time and energy)

My results of challenge Dec 18-24/ 16: Ended up going until the 25th) First, I have tried multiple times to just copy over my last list, but its a no go, so this is going to take longer than planned. My goals were: Waterfit X 2 - I actually made it 3 times, 1 with a small Christmas gathering afterwards Exercise 4 other days, to videos only once. Mainly I was at waterfit or too sore or too tired to do more Keep on top of house cleaning not really but caught up by Saturday Keep on top of laundry did 4 loads, still 1 to put away Get dgs a 2016 ornament - not given yet - too much going on Christmas Day Maybe get out to buy something for me - did very well here, bought new pj's, books, and some clothing as my gifts for Christmas and my birthday in Nov. Get groceries in - plan to have things in for dinner or brunch, whenever, with the kids got ALL groceries in on Wed. in case of any possibilities, considering at that point it looked like I wasn't going to see anyone for Christmas or Boxing Day (eventually I was invited to Christmas dinner with ddil's family (at my new friend G's, her mom) (They (ds, ddil, dgs and G) are coming here for dinner on the 27th now). Was invited to join another new friend from waterfit, D, to join her at a Christmas Pancake breakfast at a church near me) Try to keep within calories 6 out of 7 days I was over calories, NOT good! Bake Christmas cakes made 1 large loaf for me, and 2 mini loaves. Left 1 mini for a neighbor, took the other to give ds and accidentally brought it home again. Make Chex Mix - 'gifts'? after much fear and procrastination, I attempted this, and made up 8 token gifts to give out to ddil's family members Bake 1 kind of cookie? made maraschino cherry and chocolate chip slice and bake shortbread, crumbled when sliced, but tasted good Be ready to babyproof LR if need be (take down some decorations, barricade tree) don't need until Tues Dec 27 PM Recover my DR chairs - 1 2 3 4 - today's project, needed for the 27th Try to relax and not stress out not really - stress over unknown activities, being left out of name draw, and Christmas activities, argument with ds, and just baking in general made it a rough week for me. Enjoy the season - Christmas music, lights, movies part of the time. Loud Christmas music, and singing along helped reduce the stress I found baking. Lights on the tree on a timer worked well, as I often forgot to turn on the rest, but I did enjoy them when on. Christmas Eve I made sure I had time to enjoy all 3.

Can only go because she is a supply teacher and schools are closed this week) Will also try to get out Th and F Try to get in some form of exercise on non-waterfit days (pilates and/ or cardio) Watch calories as best I can, (knowing I may have 2 high calorie days, plus over most of last week) Hair cut Attend a New Years Eve potluck brunch at new friend D's - figure out what to make - try not to stress out ahead Try to enjoy some quietness this week Pay bills Prepare to go into New Year with everything caught up

To work toward getting back on the wagon of doing basic routine maintenance every day. For me that means dishes, laundry, vacuuming, poop patrol, garbage run to dumpsters and general PEEPing of anything that I've finished using for the moment.
I would like to start the new year with my home cleaner and tidier, so that I feel like I can once again do most routine tasks each day without having to nag myself. I want to feel that those basics are NO BIG DEAL to accomplish.
Today I've done a scattering of short things without any particular plan, just lots of little things since I can't yet seem to get a focused approach. I decided that it was better to do something rather than try to drum up the right frame of mind to work in an orderly, logical process and therefore get nothing done at all. Sometimes a dozen little acts of random cleaning/organizing is what it takes for me to feel better about myself and then the next day I can move on to a better planned route to getting the place in shape.

Today is Dec 28. in the next few days, I'd like to do as much as possible to start the New Year in better shape than today. I'd like to do general clean up in order to be able to do more massive decluttering in 2017.

My total number of weeks for 2016 where I made a weekly goal and met it was 20. I'm surprised it was so low, and I hope to do better next year. Some weeks I made a goal, tried, and didn't meet it, which is okay--I will not always meet them. The weeks that bug me are the ones where I didn't even make a goal.
My ticker is updated and I'm ready to go! I hope 2017 will be full of successful weekly goals for all of us!

okay. the year is almost over. and i have to put it down. i need to start working on 2015 taxes while it is still 2016! they won't be too hard or time consuming, because i didn't make much money at all... and even less in 2016, hardly anything because i was getting SSI by then. i like your 52 weeks ticker idea, dtesposito. makes it seem so much more do-able than counting 2016 things to get rid of - i can't keep track of counting even to 100! i like this thread. i need to make do-able goals and post them here. not unreal goals, but do-able. will also decide when my week starts and ends. i think for me, sunday through saturday works. will think on this but for now: Taxes! and i would love to sand the inside of the front door so i can paint over the awful brown that was supposed to be on the outside but the painter messed up my door and hung it backwards! i have looked at that poopy brown for 3 1/2 years and this is a new years present i want to give myself!

This week is almost gone, so not enough time to do a lot. I have a meeting this afternoon that will take some time to prepare for and a journal to scan that will take 3 to 4 hours and must be returned tomorrow. I would like to end this week and this year with a tidy living room & kitchen. I don't have much hope for the bedroom until my massive picture project is over, but will continue to chip away at it. I can stack a few boxes to get some floor space and walking room.
