DD is trick or treating this year! She is pushing the age limit but they are taking her friend’s little sister as a decoy We don’t get many kids in my small neighborhood. DD will go to her friends in a big suburban development of huge houses and gets lots and lots of treats. I used to love Halloween but I don’t anymore;I hate to have to worry about evil people and cats bring in danger, and there is such a dark evil vibe to so many things now too. I do love the pumpkins and cute little trick or treaters though.

Good morning magda! I know what you mean about Halloween--when I was working at the shelter there was always the fear of harm to black cats--we had a ban on black (and white) cat adoptions in October, etc. I'm convinced that the actual danger was very small but the hype around it was very large, so it made the day unsettling. For many years I left work early on Halloween so that I could be home before dark, I wanted to be home with my animals and know they were safe. But I've always loved horror movies and creepy novels so it's a perfect holiday for me, I concentrate on the parts I like and ignore the rest.
Oddly enough, since I have always loved sweets, I never liked trick-or-treating and rarely did it. The first time my mom dressed me in a Halloween costume (2 masks--one on the front of my face and one on the back of my head, with a little gown falling down so that you couldn't tell which way I was going) my aunt--who had a huge, raspy, booming voice--laughed so hard at me that she scared me and I ran out of the room. So maybe that was it, although I don't remember that happening--it's another of those old family stories that get told every time a family gets together and starts reminiscing.

It is supposed to be cold and rainy and gross Halloween night - and possible snow...... Our church does a Trunk or Treat in the parking lot of our building. I bought three large bags of candy to distribute - if the weather stinks - I will donate the candy

magda I am not a fan of Halloween either. Unless I cave tomorrow, we are not going to carve any pumpkins this year. I did zero for decorations. We are not going to be home Thursday evening so I don't see a point to decorate and then not be here. Lights off are not always a sign that people are not home and not giving out candy. Lights off and no decor is a better hint hopefully. My 1st husband loved Halloween. I think some of my dislike came over the years after he died and missing him. But also I just am old and tired. K back out of bed & fed K on bus J fed Me showered & dressed Packed my lunch Loaded breakfast dishes in dishwasher and started Rotated laundry before work Get J dressed Get J on bus Rotate laundry

I'm home from my walks, it is COLD outside! I'm eating lunch now and will figure out what to do after. I think this afternoon I'm going to just concentrate on PEEPing and maintenance stuff, I'm digging things out of closets and such and making a mess. This process is going to go on for months so I have to figure out how to do a little at a time and clean up in between because I don't want to live in a mess for the next year.
TO DO:
Finish lunch Clean up after lunch Start some dishes soaking Straighten up the book corner

Over lunch I met my tenant to do a walk thru and return her deposit. She is moving to Florida tomorrow. She managed to cram her entire apt/life into two PODS. Hers, her BF's and her DD's life. She is leaving me a clean apartment, she paid to have the excess trash picked up so I don't get hit with a cleanout bill, I told her to leave any clothes or furniture she doesn't want and I will get it donated. She was a great tenant. It will be hard to replace her.

Wow, that is an impressive clean out, Diane!
I guess? I am glad it is not cold yet. I temp would be perfect, if it wasn't so muggy.
But I have begun opening boxes, finally. Three down, seven to go. Fortunately I am in the mood to consign, cause I want some spending money, so only keeping one box so far.
Did a lot of maintenance, but am still way behind on hanging up my clothes and the laundry and PEEPing beyond tossing into the appropriate rooms. Its because I haven't been doing a nighttime routine, because I think I deserve a break after working all day. But I'm just making more work for future me!
But considering I just started back "working full time," I know it will take me a while to get to all y'all's level. Especially since I don't think I've ever reached that!

That's good scholar, hopefully most of it will sell and you won't have to take it back and decide later about where to take it.
Ohblondie, your tenant sounds wonderful, too bad she's moving. Florida--ugh, too hot, too humid, I would never want to go there. Do you have a new tenant yet?
I got a long call from my sister, and had to finish my list afterward. Time for another list or two before dinner.

MamaAngie a couple years ago DD decided she was done carving pumpkins. She never really like putting her hands in pumpkin innards. At first I felt a bit nostalgic but soon I realized that I am just fine plunking whole pumpkins on the porch. We had a good run! Work got really busy fir the last two hours but I accomplished a lot Came home. Became a couch potato. Fed cats Heated up leftovers for DD Went through my mail Deleted some friend requests on Facebook from strange men living through out the world Got derailed by hearing some unsettling news from a relative, sigh Now I will go spend 45 minutes doing chores and tasks!!

!
I was able to unpack two more boxes. The consignment stores I go to don't pay much, but one is right next door to a GW, so I can donate anything they don't take immediately, and they donate everything that doesn't sell, so the convenience is worth it! The other store lets you drop things off and just straight up donates what they don't want!
But now I am down to my "precious" teapot collection. I thought of one person that I can give a really unusual Chinese one to (she teaches Tai Chi). It has a dragon head that pops out for a spout! Don't think I'll let go of Grandma's, I use that a lot. I have yet to face the Limoges china.
I also washed my bedding and got it made, hung up my clothing, and rounded up the laundry. Still need to load the dw.
But now I am going to work on b-day and Halloween cards. I dug through some boxes and found the appropriate fixin's!

Scholar, that's great that you don't have to bring anything home from consignment, how handy! And who cares if they don't pay a lot, anything's better than nothing. That's why I'm selling books, even small amounts of money are helpful when you don't have a lot coming in.
