terrible roadBlock today. I went in a mostly bulging with blankets, books and blerkiness unused bedroom where the cats were hanging out a few weeks ago.
and FLEAS!!! lots of them, dozens jumped on me. I don't want to deal with this.
BUT I am! flea BOMB is in there right now, all blankets and small throw rugs through out the house are either in the washer, or waiting their turn. I flea pilled all the kitties also.
I have not seen any fleas around, but had recently flea pilled them and do keep up with washing blankets they sleep on, so hope that it is just an infestation in that room.
I shall be tossing lots of blankets and boxes and unnecessary stuff once the bomb is done. I was afraid to do it before and scatter the fleas in the house.
ugh.

BUT! Bags, big Black ones... 4 went to donation today, they've been hanging out in my car. Also a box and huge bag for the trash.
and my entire FREE pile out by the curb disappeared overnight.

seekingpeace great job on flea Bombing! And washing all those Blankets. I hope the fleas are gone. The pills are great, i dont know what kind you gave them but dont be surprised if there are more in a few days. The pills i had didnt kill eggs so they hatched a few days later, then the pills got them. Also, if the kittens dont go out, its a possibility that you are bringing them in (happened to me once, my first flea infestation). Vaccum everyday if you can, even hard floors and empty the bag often. That will get up any remaining eggs. Fantastic jobs on all the Bags of donations and Blerk (great word!) 1rarebeautifuldove great job on working through those Boxes. angela who didnt post here on getting rid of that Book while we worked together in chat Yesterday i finished emptying a large Bag. I also emptied a Box to either the trash or recycling, very little stayed. My new rule is a "B" doesnt count if it just becomes a Pile (for me, others can count as they like).

Blankets are washing and going to be Bagged up and stored for now. I have a feral outdoor cat who I can't do much flea stuff with, she comes in and eats at least once a day. I have another ancient 20+ year old kitty who goes in and out, so fleas are coming in with them I'm sure.
I used the flea pills that you repeat as the new ones hatch, will continue to do this. Thinking I've gotten this under control.
Patting myself on the Back as I have already tossed so much in that room, the job is so much easier!! and having a "crisis" makes it so much easier to just give myself amnesty and throw this Blerk out!

seekingpeace on getting rid of the blerk and getting those blankets done. Great job on getting a grip on those fleas. 1rarebeautifuldove great job on bird banquet. Thats a great idea to toss it out there. Alot of the birds will eat the bugs too, a bit of protein for all the carbs they are getting. Terrific work on getting all those bags out. imamess super effort on boxes and bins. I dropped a bin of hazardous waste at collection point and dropped a box of donations at thrift store.

I have a "new B" Bungalo Boxes. These are the bins and boxes that I am using to store like with like at least until more permanent homes are made available. Temporary housing if you will.
I have 2 with kitchen things. 1 bin for electrical cords, 1 bin for candelabra light bulbs, 1 bin for sewing things, 1 bin for notebooks which I am using. Yes a bin full of those. A box for hair clips.
I have almost 2 full big black bags already in my living room, I do not know how many bags of donations I have waiting for the next trip there. It is a pile of them.
I brought a box out of the master bath which only has a few items in it to put things in. This one will likely be a random one.

I have been working through the few remaining boxes in the upstairs office/doom room. I am down to TWO from NINE.
Most all of these boxes were full of ugly, icky, emotional mine-field paper from long ago when I first moved in here.
After I lost my last GOOD job in '07, all this stuff got boxed up and left that way. And the room became a squalorous doom room. I have beat it back and it has been hard won territory.
So here I am.
SEVEN BOXES gone and I don't remember how many bags!

Because it was such a big job that I did, (although it doesn't look like it) (unless you look in my back seat of my truck), I went through 2 big bins - one the entire contents are bagged in the back seat; the other - about half was bagged and put in the back seat. I said good bye to some too small costumes that I will never wear again. I also went through 2 cardboard boxes - re-binned the contents. But, one had a shoe Box of Bias tape - all neatly arranged - the whole BOX (minus a couple things) went in the Back seat. I also, last night emptied the Books out of a Basket. I refilled the Basket and it too is in the car's Back seat.
I have a boatload of Baby Black Swallowtail Butterflies. They got new parsley today since they are starting to really be hungry hungry baby butterflies.
I re-Binned several small boxes of sewing supplies, to free up a Bin to re-use. I also took a decorator Box out of the smaller Bedroom Closet - I like the message on it:
Simplify your life -- and Peace will find you.
Peace to me means nothing missing, nothing broken, and wholeness. This is the reason I am doing this.
I also today got a letter from a Bee company who wants to PAY me to keep bees here - they are paying for hive space. How nice! I sure hope it works out and they like my Butterfly Garden.

back to say I have beaten off the blerky fleas and won! Bunches of items laundered and bustled off to the donate bin, bunches more bagged and off to the trash and the cats are all happy and healthy and no fleas around. What a job! even threw out the carpets... may have gotten a little carried away with myself, but didn't want to continue this battle any longer than necessary!
