On the way to the library, I took my insurance letter and stopped at the pharmacy. I asked if they took this insurance. The clerk said, do you have a prescription? I said, not now, I'll need one next month and I'm checking ahead of time to see if you take this insurance. She said--I can't tell you that until I try to fill the prescription. I said--but your company has contracts with these insurance companies--do you mean you don't have a list of insurance that you take? She stared at me for a couple of seconds and said--we probably take it. Oh good, that's helpful.
I said--but if it turns out you don't take it, I'll have to have the prescription called in here, have to wait a day or two until you fill it, come in here, find out you don't take it, have to call the doctor back and wait until they call it it somewhere else, then make another trip to pick it up.
She just said again, we won't know until we try to fill the prescription.
So...I guess I'll have to use the pharmacy that requires a bus trip, at least one way. I hate this nearby pharmacy anyway, I just used it because it was so close.
OKAY. Now I need to get some things done.
TO DO:
10 minutes on plants Pick up dry laundry from basement 10 minutes on 1st floor Take dog out and feed her

Good morning everypony!
Diane, I am reading your post! Good gracious. Congrats on making the challenging calls! I did some research last night on gutter cleaning and house cleaning services (scary calls). I think the third call I don't have to make after all. The last call is scheduling car service. and I have to add contact trash service. once again the recycling isn't picked up.
ohblondie coffee sounds yummy mine isn't very good today.
I am happy to be up given another late night. I even took a walk!
DONE: hid under the covers
texted neighbor got dressed walked and listened to affirmations, etc loaded/ran dw
posted to fb group checked mail updated calendar a bit

Ohblondie, the way most work meetings sound, you probably didn't miss much. And hopefully they didn't notice you were missing!
Next:

Agreed Diane - but this was more of a roundtable discussion on equity (race, financial, housing etc) and how we at work could better address these issues. It was excellent!! I just partially cleared off the end of the counter. I put out a clean dish mat, put clean dishes away, loaded the dishwasher, emptied a jar and rinsed it and put it in recycling. I found a box in the basement (when I tossed the jeans in the washer) and I brought it upstairs. It was my pumpkin wax melter. I plugged it in and put in some wax. I am now decorated for fall..... ...... Once the jeans are dumped in the dryer - I will run the dishwasher. I still have yet to wipe down the bathroom

Since I had another one of the single spotlight plant lights malfunction, I'm no longer going to use the remaining one--I had one set up in the porch room as a separate plant area in case I had a plant with bugs or something. I've emptied that spot (the top of a dresser) thoroughly cleaned it, and it will now catch the overflow stuff that would ordinarily go on a kitchen counter, since I don't have any kitchen counters up here. That should keep my tv desk and the top of my microwave less cluttered.
Next:
Go back to yard and clean birdbath and water bowl Bring cans back to the yard Water the back porch plants Bring a case of water upstairs

Plan B accomplished !!! And for the first time in her life mum respected a closed room door.... ,, and amazingly there were no negative comments,, , The easy option of a shop bought meal paid off, no culinary criticism, and less washing up.. Aim is to keep things clean, and even improve things for a visit in a month time. ..Well pulling on my big girl pants and cleaning up afterwards.Toilet/bathroom cleaned (I'll use shared toilets at work but can't cope with anyone using mine at home) Washing up in progress Shifts booked for next week Covid booster booked Bathroom towels in the wash.
There's quite a bite to the air tonight, so sorting through the seasonal clothes again looks like being one of October's aims, I suspect that the extra lockdown-weight will aid the "sparks joy" decision this time round ......

Decade! Yay for a good visit and with mom respecting boundaries! Now, if you keep posting, and do something each week, next month's visit will be stress-free!
Good luck fitting into your pants ohblondie, I just today said--time for my annual clothing review, which means replacing a few items in my 6 piece wardrobe--which means altering them to fit--which means nonstop complaining until I drag out the sewing machine and do it. My one pair of jeans that fits is wearing so thin in places that it won't be long before the material gives way.
I took a long lunch, and Acorn break--I finished watching all the episodes of Murder Investigation Squad that they had (not enough, it was really good) and I've now started a Scandinavian series called Darkness: Those Who Kill.
It's almost an hour before the dog is supposed to go out but she came upstairs whining a few minutes ago, which sometimes means she needs to go out early. And it's not too bad out at the moment, I should probably take her for a walk since she hasn't been on one in a few days.
After that I will try for another phone call.

I haven't done a thing. It seems to be one of those days, again, for whatever reason. XSO will be by tomorrow for her mail. Possibly. Maybe I could weed.
I'm very excited, I think I've spotted my new neighbors. Two children! The little girl reached towards velcrokitty across the yard, and he ran away!

Well scholar, I would tell you to make a phone call, except that when you read how my latest phone call went, you will run away from the phone, which is what I want to do.
I took the dog for a walk, it was kind of warm but not terrible. When we got back I cleaned the birdbath and bowl again and put seed outside for the birds.
Then I came in and called the bank where my sister's credit card was. She had two cards with the same bank, for some reason--both were rewards cards, one she had the rewards automatically applied to her balance, but not the other one. Well, I made sure to get the rewards balance down before reporting that my sister had died, but you had to use them in increments of $5.00, so I know there was a small amount left at the end. A couple of months ago I called the bank and said that she had died and could they close her accounts. I remember them saying they would freeze them for now until any outstanding charges would come in. Well, I had waited for months to make sure all charges had come in before paying the final bills, but I understand that they had to do that. Except that for the last few months, I've been getting a 2-page statement in the mail from them, saying that there was a balance of -1.53. That would be the credit from the last of the rewards.
So today I called, explained the whole situation, and said, can you do whatever is necessary to get rid of that $1.53 credit and close out the account. The woman I was talking to said "but the account is already closed." I said, okay, good, but there's a credit balance left, I'm sure it was from her rewards, so it's not really closed. She said "since it's not your account, I really shouldn't be giving you any details." I said--okay, but the account holder is dead, my name appears right there in the address (it was my sister's name c/o of me) and if you look at your records you will see that I'm the one who called to report her death and to request that the account be closed. I'm not asking you to send me the $1.53, I'm just asking that you do whatever you need to to get rid of that credit balance and stop sending the statements.
There's a pause and she says "do you want to pay the $1.53?" If I were not an atheist, this is where I would probably be saying "God please give me patience."
I said--there's a minus before the $1.53, doesn't that mean it's a credit? Don't you see the minus sign? She said, I don't see a minus. I said, well on my copy I clearly see a minus sign. I know that I paid off her balance in full, there should be nothing owing. So she said something about the account being closed, and there wasn't really anything she could do.
So then I said, in pretty much exactly these words: "Okay, but think about it--you've now sent me several monthly statements reporting that there's a -1.53 balance. Does this mean that from now until the end of time, every month, you will send me a statement with the -1.53 balance on it?"
And she said..."yes, I think so."
I had to bite my lip severely so that I did not burst out laughing. After controlling the mirth, I said--do you see how crazy that sounds? Is there someone else I can talk to about this?
And then she sounded relieved and said oh yes, I can let you talk to the estate department! Hold on. So after a few minutes of muzak she came back on and said she had someone on the line from the estate department who would help me, thanks so much for calling and have a really nice day! Then she puts me on hold again.
Then a guy comes on sounding like he's underwater saying something like "this is so-and-so from the estate department, can you hear me"? I said, barely, you're breaking up. "I said this is so-and-so from the estate department, can you hear me now?" and every other word was garbled. So I loudly said--I can hear you but it's hard to understand you. Then he said it again, I started answering, and the call cut off.
So, I guess a letter to the bank is in my future, I'm not going to go through that again. Although, I guess if I can find an estate department phone number on their website it might go better. But not today.
I think I'm going to take a reading break.

Diane!
yeah, I am waiting for the EIN number so I can open the estate accounts. I kept getting requests from the lawyer to fill out a form that I had already mailed to them. and the requests did not have the attachment.
I did a bunch of weeding. I guess the combo of XSO coming and the neighbors on their back deck motivated me. Next up is a shower. It was cooler but humid out.

Good morning! I had another night of fairly good sleep, and it's going to be cooler today so I should be able to get things done. I feel like walking somewhere but I don't really need anything--I need to walk on a regular basis if I'm ever going to build up those muscles again. Tomorrow will by upper 80s and after that it seems to cool off for an entire week, I hope that's an accurate forecast.
Yesterday in the early evening I was having dinner and received a text from the pollinator guy. He said he had passed by my house to check out the yard work I told him about--he praised it to high heaven (I will have to tell my handyman) and said I had room for a lot of plants--yes, I know! I told him I was excited about next year's prospects and thanked him again for helping me to discover how much it meant to me to provide these plants for the bees--he said he would look at his plants and see if he had any other extras he could give me. This is a guy who is spending his retirement doing everything he can for a cause he believes in--so inspiring, he makes me want to do volunteer work again.
I'm finishing up breakfast and will make up my first list in a little while.
