Very jealous of peacekeepers smores and cocoa! Hope everyone's final preparations are going well! Done: - Final vacuum - Recycling centre trip (took two attempts as they were closed for lunch - I'm never there so early!) - PEEPed last few items in living room (laptop etc.) - Put bagged gifts neatly out of the way - Bagged up what clean laundry I could - Brought suitcase down for mum, along with unwanted top she may take - Achieved dining table zero - Achieved coffee table zero - Lit some candles in my Christmas centrepiece and brought through to coffee table Boyfriend is currently making some brunch, and I think we are ready for Christmas part 1!

Good morning lennon, thanks for starting the thread and reminding us that lots of people get Monday off since Christmas is on a Sunday this year.
Good morning scholar, you are here early!
All is still well here, no frozen pipes and power and internet still on. Current temp 1 degree, feels like 19 below--about 10 degrees warmer than yesterday. I fell asleep when I turned the light out last night, woke up a few times during the night but fell back right away, and woke up for good at 5--I tried to go back to sleep for an hour but couldn't, so I read for a while and got out of bed at about 6:15. Once again the dog wasn't happy about going out and only did part of her morning routine, so we will be in and out today.
Happy Christmas Eve!

Happy Christmas Eve everyone! Thanks for getting the weekend started lennon! I slept in this morning by several hours. I must have needed the sleep as I slept through alarms. The kitties and are all settled in for the holiday and I will be calling Mom several times over the holiday to see how it is going since their place is under Covid warning again. Last check they had over 9 people with Covid and are telling families to only visit if they canβt connect via phone very well and to keep it to only one or two people and have to be masked and stay in room. Mom and I will be doing facetime. First up on my list of things to do today is to get some Brunch - I think it will be vegan GF mac and cheese microwaved from Amyβs.

Good morning TML! My friend in independent living reports that her facility has some Covid cases too--they were planning to have family members in the communal dining room with the residents tomorrow, I haven't talked to her since Wednesday so I don't know if they've changed that. I just read a statistic that said that in the US only one third of seniors have received the updated booster, although I'm pretty sure those in facilities would be strongly encouraged to have it.
I did have to take the dog out again early, the sun is out now and the temp is up to 7 degrees, and I see a difference, the dog did not limp in the yard this last time. I hope the sun stays out, it will warm it up up here.

hello everyone!
I have not posted since Dec 19. I ended up getting quite sick on Wednesday and am just now on the mend. that of course threw a wrench into Christmas prep! yikes.
We are also in the middle of the big big storm but it seems better today. I actually have one more shopping run to do! my relative who was in hospital is now in a rehab for pt/ot for Christmas! : ( If the weather permits, I will visit her tomorrow and I need to get a goody bag for that situation. I have to say Empty Nester did A LOT! EN went all the way to the house in the country to get clothing and supplies and drove to rehab on the other side of the region - the rehab is so far from her house but I guess they just put people where beds are. EN also did a grocery run. So mea culpa... EN probably did a day's worth of travel and visit and getting supplies.
we are having a very lowkey Christmas. We decorated half the tree -- well because we don't quite trust puppy with low ornaments! I have not yet hung up the christmas cards, and I need to wrap. luckily DD sleeps really late so our christmas morning will be noon!
When I was really sick earlier - DD was so helpful, walked dog, ran to store, did dishes, brought me drinks, etc. I was thinking how vulnerable I feel. I know many of us live alone, now I do part of the year, and I really was so sick that even taking a sip of water was effort. it kind of scared me. So blessed to have her home right now!
I am going to have to take puppy for some type of walk today. it is 12 degrees which I know is warm for some of you!
next last minute target run
write a quick christmas note

Hi bree, I'm glad your daughter was home while you were sick. Yeah, it's kind of scary when you don't have anyone to help.
I've been doing plant care and trying to unclutter the downstairs, it's starting to look pretty good down there. I'm also watching movies, one of the Hallmark channels has a series of the ones I like on today. It has reached 12 degrees here, I'm sure that will be the high for today--one more really cold day and then Monday will get up to around 20 degrees.

Bree so sorry about you being sick and worried about dealing with life alone. I am glad your daughter was able to be there for you. I think i would call in a care agency if i lived alone and could afford it. Just an hour or so a couple times a day for peace of mind. Would it be worth finding one in your area and enquiring about help for the future? Or even look on FB for groups that might help out.
I watch tv most of the day but did my old trick of every advert i got up to do something. I made a big difference doing that.

bree It is tough living alone. I took/take of Mom and take care of Kitties but there is not too much help they can give me if I am sick. Hope you feel well soon! I am working on laundry, kitchen, cabinets/fridge/freezers today. Slow but steady. I put on a new watch face with a 10 min timer.

TML, it sounds like you're getting things done!
Oust, that's what I was doing with my Christmas movies, getting up and doing plant care during the numerous and long commercials...usually I tape everything to avoid them but sometimes they come in handy!
It's time to take the dog out one last time and then get ready for bed--good night everyone, I'll see you in the morning!
