1/28/23 Sat Got hair colored & cut Visited DMom Planned meals for today 48 papers into recycle bag 2 papers into "to be shred" bag Hunted for a missing checkbook & found it. Hunted for 3 bills & found them. 2 sm boxes into recycle bag 37 papers into recycle bag 2 plastic wrappings into trash
I realized that I wrote the last check from the check book. So, then needed to find the next checkbook. Was wondering if I had any more checkbooks or not. Hunted through 1 big box & halfway thru another, also thru a stack of papers. Nope, not there. Then, I thought of calling my youngest brother who is pretty darn organized & keeps everything, too. Thought maybe he could check & see if he had a note on which checkbooks he gave me - it's a joint account. Well, he did not have a note about that. But, let me know what checkbooks he has left & we figured out that I should probably have several checkbooks & the checkbook numbers of them. That was a long phone call. I have several boxes/bags to look thru to see if I can find them. Thankfully, it is an account that I may not need to use for a very long time -- we had not used it since last July. So... I'm not going to worry about it now, after all... I am scared tho because we have to move everything out & the several places they could be -- I don't want to get mixed up where to look. Omg, I'm so scared!
5 business cards into trash 9 papers into "to be shred" bag 3 folders into recycle bag 1 pkg dessicant into trash Dieted successfully Drank at least 48 oz of water -- may have been 56 oz. CD

Nael_C Hope you are continuing the wonderful streak you were on. Here’s my long update for yesterday, Jan 29, Sun. Woke up early after going to bed really late. Woke up before my alarm & very bad headache. Very congested- which is not unusual. I took 2 Excedrin & got better. worked on Mom's medical history form for new Dr group. texted w/owner of Group home Called owner/nurse of group home - re: med list, dosage, etc. She texted photo. Ate breakfast Dressed2 shoes Searched for a previously completed medical form of DMom's to go by... I know that I have them on my computer, but couldn't find any. I know they're there, but didn't want to spend any more tiime looking. Called DrBro & he helped me complete it. Scanned it. Emailed to the new group. Did lots of work to prepare for work. Ha! Tomorrow morning, I will have to get up extremely early & leave the house extra early. It's been cold, here, all day and a Winter Storm Warning is set for tomorrow at Noon until the afternoon of Tuesday. I searched for gloves/mittens &, at first, could only find2 different gloves but both for the same hand. Searched some more & found one for the other hand... all 3 of these gloves are different. Oy! Went to my car to make sure that I still have my good ice scraper/brush thing... Yay! At least that was easy to find in my cluttered/messy car. (It's mainly messed up since I have a printer for DH in my trunk. It's been a couple months & he didn't remove it, yet. I had to put things from the trunk in the back seat in order to put the printer in my car). 10 papers into recycle bag 1 sm box into recycle bag 3 packagings from the Dining Room table were tossed. 2 bags from the dining room table put in bag of bags to be re-used. Emptied kitchen trash & replaced bag Emptied back bathroom trash & replaced bag Emptied my bedroom trash & replaced bag Emptied front bathroom trash & replaced bags DH & I took a lot of stuff to the outside dumpsters: 6 bags of trash Broke down one humongous box that was by the back door Put styrofoam packaging into trash Put plastic packaging into trash Broke down another big box that has been sitting by the pantry area near the back door for a few years!!! I kept thinking DH was going to re-use it...And, he was using it to put stuff on top of. Put packaging into trash Put some foam into trash -- we will likely be re-using the rest of that foam vey soonl Broke down about 6 more medium boxes. Took at least 25 boxes to outside recycle can--all broken down into smaller pieces. Took 2 bags of bottles/cans/jars to outside recycle can Took 3 sacks of recyclable paper type stuff to outside recycle can DH was able to somehow fit all the recylables into the dumpster without having the lid even sticking up. Yay, DH Planned tomorrow's mealas Ended up drinking 64 oz of water, today! Dieted successfully 9,780 steps today!!! 1/30/23 Monday Hope you have a lovely day. I woke up at 5:25am today. Running a little behind schedule. Feel pretty good this morning. Be back much later. Bad weather expected. Luv, CD

Hello cando! I am actually experiencing a setback at the housework. My sink is not shiny everyday, my washing machine isn't washing a load a day, nor do I make my usual housework routine. So, I also was feeling kind of deflated to come and write what was happening. I am sticking to the exercise though and the healthier eating, trying to build myself some good habits there. I have been quite busy with life things getting in the way too and will continue to be so for the next five or six days. After that, I will try to get back on track, but right now I have to give myself amnesty, as I really cannot find the time and energy to do everything at once. When I come home from the gym I feel completely wasted and need hours and hours to rest, my body is completely out of shape and my physical stamina is next to zero, so I think it is of high importance to prefer to stick to the exercise, than to a shiny sink each day. I wish I could do both though. How do people multitask? I have no idea! :/

Nael_C Yes, amnesty!! You got it! I understand about the house & the exercise. Completely, & I also can’t see how others get it all done especially as things happen. I think routines help a whole lot but getting them established is rough & I rarely have been able to do it. However; Nael_C . This is our year! Lets do it! I have often had the problem of trying to change too many things at the same time. Could that be what just happened to you? I am so happy that you are sticking with exercise & I feel certain that you will start feeling better & get your energy back. I do think that Papermoon’s self care thread is a good way of developing the routines, etc. by starting with 1 habit at a time & then building on it. My problem is that it’s so hard to do just 1 thing. So this time, I am focusing on one thing; however, I am considering anything else to be a bonus. . I don’t post on there daily. But I try too. And, it’s ok to repeat a week, etc. In the past she has said to start with something that you know that you can be successful at. I am counting calories but am giving myself a break so that even if I’m over my calorie goal but did extremely well, to me that is a successful dieting day. As you know things come up, but if I can be better with dieting then that is a success in my book. I’ve had some big challenges lately, but still did well with dieting. Not perfect but improved. Re: exercise. Having been an athlete I’m wondering if you are like me in that you start back kinda the way you used to be. Maybe overdoing it as in my case, Big age difference, been a long time, weight gain, hormonal body changed. Or, kind of reduce down a little bit in what you are doing at the gym. Just getting dressed & going is absolutely HUGE!!! And just moving is HUGE! So, if it is messing up the rest of the day, the way I see it is you have a couple choices: 1) reduce what you are doing at the gym. Even if it’s not the workout that you want. You are building the habit of exercising. Making the time for it & doing it. 2) give it a little more time I know there are other choices but these would be the top 2 for me. I will come back & post my updates on this thread. Please remember when I make my long “tada” lists that I am taking baby steps so every little thing that I do gets on the list. (Well, I don’t write that I make my bed everyday as that one I got completely down so very many years ago. Even brushing teeth makes my list many times because altho I’ve done it all my life, the last few years, I have to make myself do it every day. I’d love to add on an extra time per day & flossing, etc but I’m not there yet). I also count things I toss. Since it’s a struggle, especially me & papers. DH, too! Anyway, I’ve been dieting well the last few days! And drinking water. You’ll see from my posts that I’ve had some hard things come up. I’ve had big emotional, psychological issues & trying to keep going but I keep getting kicked. So depression, stress, and stress is still weighing heavily. Have even had a few spats with DH. Keep getting hurt emotionally by things he says or does, & have to keep reminding myself that he is suffering a lot right now too. In fact a huge new stressful thing has come up. He may lose his main huge client, now. A big shake up with his big international client. His immediate boss was fired. The one who makes sure his bills are paid, etc. So, it could very well happen. In fact, the writing is on the wall… could be now, tomorrow or as long as 3 years. But it is something likely to happen. He’s had this one for many, many years. So we have to keep that in mind as we make some major decisions, now. Oh well, moving onwards. Again, I’m so glad you are exercising & I do believe this is our year! Luv, CD

You guys, I lost 6 pounds! It's nice to see that my hard work at the gym somehow pays off. cando, at the state my body is, so out of shape and with my stamina low, you are right that even starting and doing the walking going there and getting back, that alone is a change! I was expecting it to be hard, but not so hard. It is good that hubby is going to start coming too, that will motivate us both with sticking to it. First housework of the day done. Put on a load of laundry. List of things to do today: Focus on the sink Focus on the laundry. Small steps to make it easier for me to dip my toe into it again.

Wow! Nael_C Congrats on the weight loss! That's so great! Oh, my goodness! I thought that I was letting you down! I'm really struggling, here. CD I know, right? We are not letting anyone down, just plugging along as sometimes the road to freedom is not a straight line.
It has twists and turns, that may seem like we don't make any progress. But the fact that we return to plugging along is already a progress.
Well, I did shine the sink yesterday, today I woke up to a clean sink! I also put a load of laundry to be washed.
Right now, the list of things I have for today is to: Work for some hours in the morning (also take notes as I go through the project).
Get our things ready for the journey, as we are leaving for a few days out of town. Take a bath. Pack my meds to take with me. Inform my son for taking care of the animals, plus those rescues that need special medicine. Better make him a written list for everything.
I am not sure whether I will go for exercising or not today, I may go just for the trademill, as the following days I will have a lot of stuff to do at our country house.
cando, hang in there, we can make it! We SHALL make it!

Thank you, Nael_C I hope y'all have a great trip! Hoping that it's for fun... It's the middle of the night, here. 3am. I am sick with very scratchy throat & runny but stuffy nose. A little coughing. I'll take a Covid test in the morning. We are finally thawing out from the Winter Storms we had that started on Monday. It's probably all going to re-freeze tonight. I have been doing a whole lotta work in the house. Not only decluttering areas, but also decorating and re-decorating! More in my blog section of the forum! Lots and lost of improvement, I had been working constantly, but wasn't writing about the improvement, just kept at it while also taking some days off.

Nael_C just saw you posted, here. I’m so happy that things have come together for you! Sounds like you’ve done tons. I looked for your recent posts as you mentioned that you’ve been posting in your blog. Do you have a new blog? I didn’t see any more posts in the Embrace the Effort one. I just posted an update in the weekly work along thread, today. I had not posted in it this week. I’m not doing well, so wouldn’t be a good partner anymore. I wish you the very best & we’ll stay in touch with each other, I’m hoping. You deserve a much better partner than me. Please join us in the workalong threads. You can just jump in & can always declare read back amnesty. You would not be the only one to do that. It is really a wonderful thread. And of course Saffrons group blog thread is supportive too. Keep up the great work! Luv, Cd
