Just catching up on reading... TwinkleToesYou have done an amazing amount of work the last few days. Getting that room to zero is really impressive. Had no idea this product was available--so cool that you can use a little touch-up paint and a husband is good as new! I hope you get plenty of relaxation and enjoyment during the visit and can rest those aching joints!

Just attended an excellent National Day of Healing webinar. While listening to the panelists and the discussion on some of Dr King's writings, I was able to complete an outstanding piece of paperwork for my aunt's estate. I was able to fax it in and hopefully everything is good
My dad had to wear a Halter (?) heart monitor and it has been a long week of calls to get the followup appointment scheduled and a call from his primary to explain why they did it. UGH....... But we are in the books for next tuesday.
such a relief to have the paperwork done and the appointment scheduled. I do have to visit two banks to close out two accounts. I will do that next week.
I just feel so much better having two more things done.
OK - off to head home and do something productive there.

Good one, golden! I'm thinking of a few people I know who would be looking for that touch-up paint!
Ohblondie, are you affected by the snow in the east? All we got was a tiny dusting.
I decided to go ahead and put the shelving unit together for the back porch, I guess that means I'm going ahead with the project out there. The problem is that the stuff that will go on the shelves is all over the floor so it has to be moved before the shelves will even fit in there. But the back porch has been driving me crazy, and I really want it to be organized before the spring garden season starts.
I have to take the dog out now.

TwinkleToes you did amazing amount of work! Hope you can stop and relax and enjoy your guests. We headed to motor vehicle office. We made a silly mistake and have to reschedule. But I have all the important documents safely set aside. I’ll reschedule Today is pay day so I treated us to lunch at a nice sports bar type place, little local, popular chain. Prices are up by about 70%! Still it was a nice break snd something special to do w DD on a day off Went to credit union to sort some things out and make some deposits Took a little break Folded and put away laundry Put load two on dryer Vacd stairs, living room, dining room, entryway and kitchen Mobile groomer came and trimmed girlcat’s nails. Girlcat bellowed so loudly and squirmed but really was cooperative, she did not bite, scratch or claw at groomer, just very vocal she did not like it. . I am so blessed to have this resource as girlcat is no longer able to take care of if her own nails and going to the vet is for traumatic for her. Soon I pick up puppy. Then I plan to veg!

Oust, this is my favorite weather!
Bree, how nice that you can have someone come to the house to cut nails!
I've been working on clearing off my desk areas in the room where I spend most of my time. They never stay clear for longer than 2 minutes, it seems I always find more things to put on them. And speaking of which, as soon as I cleared off a pile in front of a dresser in this room for the challenge, I put a box of books in the same place, almost not even realizing what I was doing. So I moved that to one of the storage areas so that place is clear now. I just have to keep working at finding places for (or getting rid of) all the things that I ignore because they don't have a storage space or I just can't figure out what to do with them.
I'm steaming veggies for dinner and am probably done for today, I'm getting sleepy again and my head is starting to feel sinus-y, hopefully it's just from dust.

Happy Friday everypony!
Diane it sounds like my great aunt right before we had to move her to higher level of care. she seemed perfectly sharp except for her delusions that neighbors were trying to get into her house. Perhaps there is a local mental health department that you can call and express your concerns to. even if they don't have a solution. anyway I am glad you can vent here. so so difficult.
I am feeling a bit better day two of meds. still up too late.

Diane so your senior client thinks someone is living in her house feeding the cats? I hope the vet staff can pick up on things. How awful. More prayers!!!!

Diane, that was such a creepy story. The poor lady, I hope she gets some help. There was a story online some years ago on Reddit about a guy who thought someone (I think his landlord) was accessing his flat and leaving him notes - turned out to be effects of carbon monoxide poisoning, which he discovered with a detector. Though it sounds like this has been going on for a lot longer, so quite likely something more mental Done: Laundry from machine to dryer Load of laundry 2 Emptied dishwasher Stacked dishwasher Washed up mugs and frying pan that couldn't go in the dishwasher General PUPA of kitchen sink area, putting recycling away Cleaned sink surrounds Currently deep cleaning sink with a mixture I saw on a cleaning show Threw out a dish wand, several packs of seeds, and an old mug that the microwave wrecked years and years and years ago Took down the Christmas cards (finally! I've kept forgetting) The kitchen looks so much better now. I'm working up to getting rid of a frosted glass vase on the kitchen window sill that I've loved since childhood but an attempt at cleaning seems to have wrecked and further attempts haven't improved. Objectively I know it has to go, but everytime I see it I'm just wracked with guilt over it being ruined and reminded of how fond I've always been of it. I asked my mum for it specifically when I moved in here. Argh, I hate the emotions of decluttering!

Scholar, but she has been at this level, about this subject only, for all the years I've known her which is probably approaching 10 years now? I can't remember when I met her, and it wasn't long after that she started talking about this guy. Plus, she had contacted the police and the alderman's office about this guy, as well as told all of the neighbors. The police sent an officer to go into her house and talk to her, and I think they determined that she had food in her fridge and cat food and litter for the cats, which meant she could care for herself. This was after I had worked with her for several years, so the place didn't look nearly as bad as it did when I started working there. If they had gone in when I first did, I can't imagine that they wouldn't have called the city in to inspect. If I remember correctly the alderman asked someone from a charity to come and talk to her, which happened on her front porch.
Bree, I have to find out what the result of the vet exam was, I'm hoping they said that yes, the cat lost weight, so that she realizes he's not eating. At the time she left her message she said the vet couldn't find anything wrong with him...but I don't know if they had weighed the cat at that point and compared it with the information from the ER clinic, which I hope they had access to.
When I left the neighborhood, she was totally able to take care of herself--she shopped for food, she went to doctors when needed, her house had power and heat, etc. And she took care of the cats, she just didn't have the same standard of care that I had. As far as the animal care and control laws, she was not violating any of them. If she wants to have this delusion I have no objection and I don't think anyone else has the right to interfere with her life, unless and until she loses the ability to care for herself or her animals.
I need to find out what the vet said, before I assume that she will not worry about the cat eating. Sometimes she hears only what she wants to hear, and if she only heard "the cat is not blocked and I don't see any physical problems" she probably interpreted that as "the cat is in perfect health so since he's not eating my food he must be getting food from the guy who is frequently in my house." Which is a really weird thing for her to think if she thinks the guy is evil and doing things purposely to annoy her--but he is kind and concerned about her sick cat?
I'm trying not to think about it much, if I don't hear from her over the weekend I will probably call her.

turned out to be effects of carbon monoxide poisoning,
Wow, reve, that's really interesting! But yes, this has been going on for a long time. From what I know about dementia, it gets worse over time, but this is not, and her other mental faculties still seem fine.
You know, this probably isn't the place to discuss this, but in thinking about her one delusion--what about people who believe one thing or another that isn't true, because of their political leanings? Are they all mentally ill? Obviously not, they're just deluded because of life circumstances and current events and certain media outlets and happenstance. I guess I can look at my senior client in the same way.
Okay, I'm getting a headache thinking about this...time for a late dinner, and then I'll have to get ready for bed.
Good night, see you all tomorrow in the weekend thread!
