Hi ohblondie I hope the roads were safe! Diane -- I think you should start a blog on customer service issues!! amazing how many there are. I am working at home today which is so nice to have a quieter morning. I have a few concrete tasks to get done. yesterday was kind of busy. running home at lunch for puppy is kind of physically exhausting. This may be a whine but I miss when I could use lunch to eat lunch! or run an errand, or go out with colleagues, or go to the gym, or just relax. so so glad to be working at home today so while I will walk puppy at lunch I will skip long walk to and for car in parking lot, and rushing home and back. after work I took puppy for a walk right away in the park. I thought it would be crowded as it was high 30s F and SUNNY (rare event) but there were only three cars in the lot when I arrived and just two when we left. I saw a few people in the distance. it was perfect! I don't like to be the only human there but I like to just see them in the distance as puppy is so reactive. then I went to the symphony orchestra! I know someone in it. it was nice but busy for a work night. then the real adventure began. I let puppy out into the fenced yard when I got home and when I went to check on her, she was gone! I was in shock, I could not compute, first thought did someone take her second thought did she jump the fence. I called and called, went out front, and then thank God puppy appeared safe. I got her in the house and got my flashlight. She had pulled part of the fence away and had an escape hole. The best I could figure (walking around at 10:30 pm with a flashlight) she went to the street behind our house, then came around to our street, and went in several yards - there were fresh dog prints that were hers most likely as I followed her tracks. I have a call in for a fence repair and an ask for a short-term fix if necessary. I have a table propped against the hole but I don't trust puppy to be alone out there. I am so glad she is safe, we live off a road that can be busy and a black dog running wild in the night ... yikes. I am glad too that she did not jump the fence as that would be a real problem. A hole in the fence I can fix. I am sad about the money, this will probably cost in the 1000s. She has caused such utter destruction here and cost me 1000s. I do wonder why people have dogs now I have a lot to do. I am picking DD up for her break on Saturday! I want her to come home to a clean and inviting house with her favorite foods ready! next though some work work!

Oh bree, that's so scary about puppy getting out of the yard, I'm so glad she stayed nearby. I have a friend with a huge yard and falling apart fence and her dogs got out twice in the last few months, she is constantly out there trying to mend areas with stapled or wired on patches, but the dogs are wily and find loose spots. I'm so afraid that one of these days if they get out they will venture farther away and she won't get them back. You are right, fencing is expensive!

bree Oh my - what a puppy adventure! I always pictured your dog as a lighter color, almost golden retriever color. I had no idea she was black, just like my dog. Which is why I fear her escaping at night for the same reasons - not being very visible! And roads were nice and clear today - it was just my front steps and sidewalk that were messy.

Hi ohblondie glad the roads were clear. Yep puppy is black, a glossy girl but not visible! I just had meeting from HQ a big zoom meeting that I just had to listen. So I deep cleaned my stove and faucet during the meeting. It ended early unfortunately as I had more cleaning to do! Girlcat who is also black is chirping relentlessy for lunch. Girlcat would like a fresh can of food to lick off the gravey every half hour at a minimum. I cannot keep up so she has to chirp a bit longer (she has bowl of dry food there!) my non-work goals today -- mop kitchen floor, make some progress on dining room table clean up. It becomes such a catch all especially as I am working at home, paying bills. work goals -- sound coherent at a big deal meeting early this afternoon!

bree when is the last time girl cat has had her thyroid and her teeth checked? Wanting food but being haphazard about eating it are symptoms of those conditions.

Phoenixcat, did you have a hyperthyroid cat with a decreased appetite? I had a few hyperthyroid, and they always wanted to eat everything in sight, but I've heard that very occasionally they lose their appetite--I've never known a hyperthyroid cat that didn't have the classic symptoms. Dental problems for sure could make them not want to chew food, but I also had cats crazy for the gravy varieties but who left all the chunks, they just liked gravy! They used to sell little cartons of cat gravy but I haven't seen them recently, maybe they stopped making it because I'm sure it wasn't the healthiest thing if they had too much of it.

phoenixcat maybe a little over a year ago? She eats dry food every day, and cat treats; she just likes the gravy as a treat. She does not seem to have any eating issues. I'll keep an eye on her. thanks.

Good morning y'all! I am going to lead with a bit of good news today. I got a call from the VA Whole Health social worker. I have been trying to get into the whole health program for 2 years! We have a zoom meeting in 2 weeks. Finally some concrete action. Today I am hung up in trying to get access to see my work schedule from home. I work for a big, prestigious hospital system, and as you can probably imagine, this is a nightmare. SO far I have talked to 4 people (or maybe the same guy twice) and everybody just keeps handing me off to someone else. It's almost as bad as the VA. Scholar, thank you. bree , have you considered getting a cable for your dog? That way, you could just hook it to her collar and then she could be in the yard, with a degree of freedom to move around, but not able to leave. Diane, I use Amazon for online ordering. They are super accurate and their customer service is pretty good. I have a stupid story about Walmart home delivery, too. I'll post it later. Good morning everypony!
yes, they do still make the gravy only treats. hugely expensive. I have tried to make my own, less successfully. Velcrokitty won't eat wet food, and the vet recommended multiple textures. Kitty is allowed one after 2:00 pm, and then dry treats after 6:00 pm.
I am struggling with my mood, but slowly starting to get into the swing of things. It is exciting to have trash/recycling/compost bins of my own! DVD came over to fill the compost with tree trimmings. His DM just moved to assisted living, so he has her house to himself, now.
DONE: decaf dishes counters made bed scooped called for missing wheelie bin checked online balance checked calendar checked email checked notifications
NEXT UP: update log what to wear wash up and get dressed do face copy shopping list maybe wipe down the fridge while it is empty prep phone for return
ERRANDS: pharmacy target/grocery post office?

I use Amazon for online ordering.
Erin, I use Amazon too, I don't drive so I use several online options--Amazon is good but doesn't have (or has at a higher price) some of the food and household items that Walmart has. Of course Walmart doesn't ship fresh or refrigerated things but they ship a lot of packaged foods including some cans and jars, depending on when I look for them.
Scholar, what brand are the gravy treats? I haven't seen them advertised in a very long time. I'm assuming the gravy meant for pets doesn't have as much sodium as that meant for humans, I think it's the sodium that would make it unhealthy. Although, it's not nutritionally complete either, which is why it's a "treat" instead of a meal. I always thought it would be good to keep on hand in case an animal gets sick and needs to be tempted to eat--as well as for a treat for the gravy-lovers.
His DM just moved to assisted living, so he has her house to himself, now.
That sounds good--does that mean he can move the rest of his stuff out of your rental house? And that he won't be over as much?
I had a leisurely lunch and tv break.
I checked out the Walmart box stuff--I opened the baby wash thinking I could use it, but I don't think I like the smell. I think I could use the laundry detergent provided it cleans well, it says it's good for "baby stains" so I imagine it has to be decent quality! I'm not sure about the smell of that either, I'll have to try it on a load of something that I don't wear, in case I don't like it. The box of 162 size 5 diapers sells for $28.00! Maybe I will call my sister's friend who does all the volunteer work and ask if there's a mom/baby shelter anywhere that she knows of. They can also have the "curly hair" shampoo, conditioner, and mousse!
