In good news, the bathroom is done! We sent the workman off with much farewelling and sat down to a nice relaxing evening of preparing for my trip. Only for the doorbell to ring five minutes later. The workman, whose van wouldn't start! So he spent nearly four hours sitting with us, waiting for a recovery truck. So much for me getting anything done! Boyfriend wandered off about an hour before the truck arrived in search of his bed, as I glared daggers at him, since I need to be up just as early as him but need to pack in the mean time! You best believe when I came upstairs a short while ago that I was shouting farewells to the workman as he left, phoning mum to confirm our meeting place tomorrow and loudly putting away all laundry after throwing the bags on the bed. Petty? Yes. Warranted? Also yes.
Done: Steam mopped kitchen floor Finish packing Add dinner dishes to dishwasher and run it Put away clean laundry 2 Take clean laundry upstairs 3 Put away laundry 3
That's me for the night. Off to shower and tint my hair and then much needed sleep! See you all probably on Friday and good luck with your lists until then!

Wow reve, that's funny (well not funny, you know what I mean) that you had to spend 4 hours with the workman--good thing you liked his work or it would have been awkward--if you had complained about something before he tried to leave the first time.
I'm glad the room is done, though!
Good night everyone, I'm almost ready to go downstairs. I've noticed that the younger Pug next door has been barking again for the last hour--I don't know what's going on there. I have to take the dog out soon unless she refuses to go, so we'll see if there's a commotion again.

My Latte's blood work came back------AND HIS KIDNEYS HAVE IMPROVED !!!!!!!!!!!!--------The most I could have hoped for was no worse ! But 2 of the values were improved---and now he said that my baby's kidneys are about that of most cats.
The kidney support food was what did it, according to the Dr. The urine work was good too ! I am overwhelmed. God was good to him and to me.

Hurray for the good health report for Latte catcats Good morning all! Dishes done, middle bathroom reset. The needle on the scale is finally moving. I've been eating my first meal at noon and trying to cut down on that 2:00 burn out and snack time.

Good morning def!
Catcats, that's so good to hear about the bloodwork, what a relief for you. I've had cats that lived for years after a kidney diagnosis, so it just depends on the cat, and the care of course, that's wonderful that he's responding to the special diet.
I feel like it should be later in the week, yesterday was stressful for various reasons and it feels like it lasted for a long time! Hopefully today will be calmer, the only thing I have to do today is call the vet to confirm that I have a definite appointment for Friday and that they will have the medication I need, maybe ask them to put it aside for me. I usually speak directly to the guy who picks the dog up and brings her back but he wasn't there, so I just want to confirm everything.
It's another beautiful cool day, maybe I can do something outside if my aches and pains let me.

The dog was ready to go out and I stayed out after for about 45 minutes, that was all I could do at one time. I was able to bring all the plant trimmings from a few days ago and fit them in the yard waste bin despite how many grass clippings that were in there. I noticed that the sunflower plant in the back part of the yard was missing most of its dried seed heads, so I think maybe the squirrels have been taking them away--this is the plant that sprawls close to the ground so probably easy for them to reach. So I trimmed about half of it down, and cut off the few remaining seed heads and left them on the ground for whoever to pick through for any seeds that might be left. Both sunflower plants have stopped blooming and are mostly dried up, but the one near the porch still has all the dried seed heads on it so I'm going to leave it for a while.
Then I brought the cans out to the street, the yard waste one was packed to the top and heavy. I gathered a few more zinnia seeds, the globe amaranth and salvia are still in full bloom so no seeds to get there yet. Oh, and a few milkweed pods had dried and started to break open so I took those in too, although I don't really see myself planting milkweed--I have several established plants now and they multiply in the spring. The seeds are so fun, though, they're the ones attached to the big pom pom of fluff that carries them away in the wind. And when you look in the seed pod, they are all tucked in neatly together until wind (or a person) comes along and starts separating them.

on all the outdoor work getting done, Diane! I love catching the *fairies* that come out of the milkweeds, making a wish and blowing them on their way. When I lived on a farm I would gather the pods and make Christmas ornaments out of them.
I returned 24 Filtrete filters to Lowe's. It was very easy, thank goodness. The stair landing is not finished, just chipping away at it. Why the reluctance?
Ok, I just dusted stuff on the landing. Two more pairs of shoes in boxes that DD1 bought at the beach (she is very hard to fit); a new heating pad and 2 new Life is Good shirts (kid sized) for donation; a full bag of matchbooks that my father had saved from the time he was a teenager, many from around the world; a stack of old programs with our favorite players from when we used to go to all the Baltimore Orioles games and a calendar with the players and their dogs; 5 unopened cases of plastic tubular hangers (72 hangers in each box) from The Container Store (they are different colors used for sorting different seasons and colors of Life is Good shirts/sweatshirts/pants; two drawer bins from The Container Store holding clean socks. Those were moved so I could dust the wall, chair rails, panel molding, baseboards and wood edges on either side of the carpeting. Vacuumed landing. Moved hanger boxes and bin drawers back into place on the landing. Vacuumed upper and lower stairs again.
I noticed before I finished all the stairs that I was going back to *pick work*. Rather than pull out the vacuum cleaner every day I would just crawl on the stairs picking up each tiny piece of cat litter or fuzzy that was tracked on the stairs. Either way of cleaning, vacuum or picking, is a pain in the butt.
BUT ~~ the front staircase is done!!! It looks so nice. Even with the stacks of boxes back in place it looks clean and organized. Why do I resist doing the work? I am always so happy with things when they are done.

Going thru bags in foyer. These are bags that come from DD1's trips to her father's beach place. Puzzles, children's books, Life is Good t-shirts, socks, hats, pj's, flip flops, blankets. There are also Christmas ornaments from a year-round Christmas shop. If I gave away half that stuff she probably would never know. But out of respect I won't do that. I would hate it if someone gave away my things without my knowing. And how would we even know that we didn't know things were being given away that we didn't remember? haha If we wouldn't know then why do I care? I don't know. I think it is probably better to make the decisions ourselves and exercise some of those reasoning muscles.
And there are my own piles. Some clothes from LL Bean, some Wicked Good slippers. We just tried them on (we can share clothes sometimes) and decided to donate a good amount. It does make me feel good to donate brand new things with tags. I imagine the delight some other person will feel when they see it.
It is so easy to be clutter blind to everything. Buy because we can't remember what we have; buy because someone else is paying for it; buy because we think we have a good use for it (the best intentions and all that); buying as gifts for others and forget where it is when it's time to give the gift, on and on. All those hoarder shows I watched where the woman has piles of brand new stuff. How could I not see that I am just like her. DD1 and I would say, well, at least we are not that bad ~ yet. But we are.
I think by being able to put like with like and see the tremendous amount of similar things we will be able to admit, this is bad, and make some choices. When I had DD1 come in so we could try on some stuff and talk about the excess she said, "Well, I didn't buy any t-shirts this year." That is kind of even worse because it means the bags with t-shirts have been sitting there for at least a year and a half. I am embarrassed admitting this. It isn't just a matter of doing a little weeding out and cleaning. I know I am a hoarder but *knowing* and *REALLY knowing* seem to be two different things.

Danny, you're making progress, every time you sort something you find things to donate. It's the realization moments that are part of the process of changing. Remember the stages of change, at first, you don't think you even have a problem. When you finally realize it, that's the next step and so on, this is why I tell people to try to work on dehoarding a little bit every day or at least a few times a week, because if you start realizing how much stuff you have and then don't think about it for a long time, you pretty much have to start over. Because time has passed by and you forget the feeling of--wow, I really have too much stuff--and you think, well, it's not so bad. These moments of realization (even though they can feel bad) build on each other and bring you to motivation to change it.
I have been doing a few things here and there in between resting my back and knee, they are bothering me today. I talked to my decluttering client for a long time. I also worked on the seeds I've been collecting--I'm mad at myself, I had saved some sprigs from a wildflower that had appeared in the yard for the first time, I was going to see if there were seeds--but I can't find it, I may have put it in the yard waste bin this morning by mistake. Seed collection is very time consuming but it's such an amazing feeling to know that some of the plants you grow next year are from the plants you grew this year.
I also called the animal hospital to confirm that yes, I have an actual scheduled appointment for Friday.
