Good morning!
Thanks for starting the thread, lennon!
I had decent sleep last night, the dog still hasn't gone out, if she doesn't go in the next 45 minutes or so I will have to make her go since I have to leave for my doctor appointment at 11:30 and who knows how long I'll be there since I always have to sit around and wait. I did call my decluttering client since I like to do that in the morning.
See you later this afternoon!

Good morning everyone!
Bree - the game is along the lines of battleship but takes a lot of logical sequential thinking
DS called me right after 8am. He had ripped his work pants (blown them out he said) and he needed to coe grab a pair of clean ones that I just washed. Thank goodness they were in the dryer!
This morning I washed the towels and a random pair of his jeans that I found in his room. Tonight it will e socks and underwear.
Today's staff meeting reinforced the need to retire. There are two women that are quite bossy and make the decisions. Today I tried to advocate for a different decision but got railroaded. No one had a chance to speak. They also monopolized most of our hour long staff meeting
OK - back to work and to pick the best date

Hi def and ohblondie!
Ohblondie, why do you think you keep postponing your retirement--are you close to a date when it would be better to stay through? Like for a better pension or something?
Okay, I'm finally ready to do some work. My doctor appointment was at noon, I got there 15 minutes ahead of time, and I finally got into a room at 12:35. Saw the doctor around 1:00, and when I left the place at 1:30 there were 10 people in the waiting room. I hate to think how long those people will be waiting--there's just one doctor.
Luckily I had a very good book about cave exploration with me. On the way home I stopped at the library to return a book and pick up three and when I got home I fed the dog and took her out. After about an hour she wanted to go out again, she really did have to go again too--maybe she was nervous because I was gone, since I'm so rarely gone. I had a late lunch and watched a Christmas movie. Maybe I can still get a couple of lists done before dinner time--I can't eat dinner late because I have to go downstairs at 7 now with the new dog schedule.
TO DO:
Feed dog again
Put the last of the items and bags away from the last grocery shop and order 10 minutes refilling animal food containers Get laundry ready to do in the morning

hi everypony!
late last night dr called and said I had a bacterial infection and she was prescribing penicillin. the best part is she said I should be feeling better in a couple of days. phew!
after looking up on the CDC website I feel terrible that I was infectious when I was out and about. I am back in the habit of masking up. there is a vaccine for this (it causes meningitis if it gets in the bloodstream) but apparently I didn't get it. Thank goodness DVD did! He just had a day of crabbiness.
I'm so glad I've been keeping my "everything log," as I could look back. I suspect I got it from 3. I don't think he is vaccinated. I sent info to his mom this morning.
Meanwhile, DVD's son is coming tomorrow. I will still be quarantining for a couple of days. DVD has a secondary place for him to stay. His mom is still sick as well, and so we suggested she get tested.
We did a bit of cleaning up last night. The ponies will be up today! might need to to a stash and dash.

Scholar, good thing they identified what you have and that there is an effective fix!
While at my doctor's office today he took his mask down while talking to me...doc, that's not how masks are supposed to work! Of course, I was wearing mine.
Next:
10 minutes on plants Wash some dishes Go through mail and put bills on calendar Delete 10 hard emails

Hi reve!
The last time I went to the library I was looking through the young adult fiction section, which I frequently do. That section runs into the YA nonfiction section, which I normally don't look at, but the word "hoarding" caught my eye and I took out a book on it written for teens. It was pretty informative, and I liked that it mentioned different theories but didn't settle on a definitive one, and importantly to me, it admitted that medications don't help hoarding.
I disagreed strongly with one thing they said though, and now I'm wondering how other people with hoarding tendencies feel. It said that people who hoard are bad organizers, that's why they have various things mixed up all over their homes.
I think I've always been a very good organizer, a major part of my job was organizing, and once I got rid of enough things in my condo, I was able to organize everything at home and know where it was. Organizing things here in the house took a long time because I had to move my things around in a major way two different times, so there are still some things that don't have a good home, but I definitely know what category they are and that I need a designated place for them.
I think the reason people who hoard have things all over the place is that the designated spot for something becomes full and there is no other large spot available to designate another place for it. When every single storage place in your home is already packed to the brim and you get another item that would logically fit in one of those storage places, it gets put "wherever". I don't think that says anything at all about a person's organizational abilities.
I would love to know what other people think about this.
I'm going to eat something now and then shortly after it will be time to go to bed. I always feel exhausted on doctor appointment days because I find them so stressful and am so glad when they're over. Hopefully I will be re-energized by tomorrow, I have a lot of stuff I would like to work on.
Good night everyone, see you in the morning!
Diane

lennon Thanks for starting up the week! Hi Everyone! mylittlescholar I hope you get to feeling better soon! Diane I am not a hoarder but more of a clutterer - Mom was a hoarder (and still is) — the place where she stays took me aside and said “[quietly] we think your mom might be a hoarder”. I looked at them and said very seriously, “what makes you think that? [and laughed inside like a wild hyena]”. My mother could be the queen of hoarders though I did not say that. I finally have most of her hoard cleared in the upstairs living area and maybe i will be able to work on the basement this Summer. I did the clutter bug test and I am a butterfly and it said that for my style of clutter issues that I needed to be able to see and find things - so clear containers with large labels and stuff lumped in larger clear containers with larger group labels. This week is just so topsy turvy - it feels like a Friday or maybe a Thursday. I can’t believe it is just Monday night. The next thing I need to do before I call it a night it get the mail out of the car and check for bills and pay them. Then feed the kitties their night meal. They were hinting right after work even though they had food in bowls that they would like something different. But if I feed them early they dont count that as the before bed meal it is extra snack. Feed them early and they sing the song of their people until i finally get up and feed them again even if bowl is full. Sometimes I just get up drop in a few extra nuggets and shake the bowls and they are like woo hoo and fine. But it is better to fed them right before i got to bed unless i feel like being sung to (and trust me they are not sweet singing you to sleep singers). This week already feels like Friday - I am just astonished that it is only Monday night.

Diane I agree with you. I am a pretty good organizer. when I tell people that is what I do, I get two reactions: one is they are as well, and start telling me stories about that, and the other is they need to hire me.
I do think that having executive function issues can impact whether one would be labeled a good organizer or not. It takes a lot of mental stamina! I think that "organizing" is a complex process, and so there are many sub skills that need to be mastered.
we got the ponies installed! and photographed. they are so cute!
I took a nap. updated my medication chart. I think I will make myself a table and print it out, put it in a page protector and then check off the squares with a dry erase marker.
haven't heard from DVD's son--oh the joys of parenting young adults. I was the same way.
now to rustle up something to eat and then work on cleaning up.

TML I thought what you wrote about kitties was so funny. Made me laugh out loud! You wrote: “ …Then feed the kitties their night meal. I woke up with a bad headache. Went to work, when I didn’t want to as it was not the type that I could still work, but I thought it would get better after Excedrin as usually does. It got worse at work & felt very nauseous. I tried hard but only lasted until 1:30 & wasn’t very productive. DH had to pick me up as I wasn’t good enough to drive. (My boss offered to take me home. He can be nice! I preferred DH’s driving, tho). That dang headache lasted until about 7pm! Felt good afterwards. Finally able to eat. I did get one major thing done, yesterday, at work. Cd

Good morning cando! Ugh, that headache sounds so awful! And there isn't any medication that helps?
TML, I so miss having a cat, even with the yowling that sometimes happens when they are making a point!
I looked at them and said very seriously, “what makes you think that? [and laughed inside like a wild hyena
So funny! Yes, I guess the fact that someone is a hoarder is not something you would volunteer when looking at care facilities. What kind of things would she be able to hoard in a facility--is she able to order things by mail?
I had a decent sleep night although it was in stages, the dog was fine. Time to get to work.

cando I love my boys (Kitties) but they are insistent when it comes to treats and food even when their bowls are full. I read once that if you are worried about forgetting to take your meds then routinely give your cat a treat before you take your meds. If you forget meds (and cat treat), Kitty will make sure you remember even if they have to set on your head. Diane - Mom at one point convinced them that she needed to keep her pill cups for a crafting project (she was supposedly going to put them on a board, turn them upside down, stack/glue them to make a Christmas tree shape, and then paint them green and use paint to do ornaments and etc). She also wanted to collect other things for her crafting projects (which never happen just the collecting and stacking up of stuff). Also i have two accounts for her - one at pharmacy and one at grocery store so she can order things she needs. This is supposed to be mouth wash, tooth paste, etc, and apples and sugar free candy once in a while from the store. I dont know what she does. I was at one point bringing in a few items now and then extra she asked for (which is why the nursing home was like …. No). Right now she has too much stuff and before covid I used to have to bring boxes of it home. I bought her for one of her birthday presents another rolling storage bin thing with drawers. Disclaimer on why does mom have accounts - well she would want mouthwash for example - call me at work and say no need to hurry if you get it here by noon thats fine. I was like no, I am at work. So when I did go and get it (to complaints of me being slow and etc) it would never be exactly the flavor, type, or etc that she wanted as that changed based on her mood (or i thought on what i bought as what i bought was never ever right even though it may be what she was already using). So I tossed hands in air and said fine order it yourself from pharmacy they deliver within 24 hours. It has kept my life better but I just pay up her account and dont look to see what she is buying. I told her keep it to needed items only as the home complained and she was like sure. She doesn’t have an unlimited account and the cost is not high but whether or not she is buying a bunch of cheap clutter too every once in a while - I don’t know. They also have games and etc where residents can win stuff (clutter) and mom is sharp and can win quite a bit - so part of it is their fault too.
