must.not.watch. HSN.... ( ) as someone who NEVER shops (born without the "shopping gene" as it turns out) I have little resistance when I go to a mall or a bigger store in the city, or..the shopping network...talk about click baiting me!! so I bought me a bed!!..a low profile super modern design sleeping cot..I gave away 2 metal very efficient army cots a year ago, guests used them all the time. this NEW design builds on that one) I will be using it for 3 primary uses 1. in the sunroom I need a place to lie on my "buzzy " therapeutic heated mat for my hip 1b-and as a seating area to read 2 a flat space to do the back exercises I am supposed to do (considered buying a real chiropractor type table but they are too tall for me use daily or as back up seating) 3. perfect size for my studio sleeping area!!! I MAY be living in the studio for a summer if some major repairs are being done..even if I don't this will get used! 4. $100. delivered..and HSN warranty.. I don't have to get it into my car & home from a store like other purchases. (easy)

One year membership in the Recreation Center in my town. Been buying 10-pass cards for quite a while, while pondering the possibility of moving. Decided I'm not going anywhere, so bought the annual pass. (Can pay it monthly, which helps too.) I've been going there at least twice a week for last 7 yrs or so. It is now a way of life for me.

My purchase yesterday was expendable - 40 gallons of diesel for db's tractor while cutting my hay. I'll have to repeat that for the baling Sunday or Monday.

Lucie..it is British writer Jodi Taylor.. the most amazing thing is she packs so many REAL historical events in each, and I laugh myself silly at the droll snarky comments of these tea drinking but kick-asss historians.. The name of the series is: "The Chronicles of St. Mary's" but each book has a different title: first one is: Just one *** thing after another ( a quote on what HISTORY is) They go back in time to JUST observe what is written, often incorrectly, in history books.. what did young Henry V actually say at Agincourt? Did a certain old king die of gout or was he murdered? all the characters are so well fleshed, and charming.... each book can be read separately but stateroom the first!! ENJOY! I am ordering book 8 out soon. on FB : www.facebook.com/AuthorJodiTaylor/

I ordered 6 'camaflauge print' tarps FINALLY..wanted to cover up areas I can't get to, and 'hide' the yard areas now that fencing is coming down as we clear it up. from a distance you can't see what you are looking at, looks like the ground.
harbor freight has these in all sizes..instead of driving for an hour back and forth and shopping on a BUSY blowout sale day there for already ON SALE tarps I just paid the shipping of $7. and got them online.
I have misc. bungee cords to use to cover wood and tiles, so that works for me...spent only $30 total!

oh..imamess reminds me a 3rd book in a trilogy I loved!! just came in... my only two expenses last week a total of $8. and $3.50 for 2 books!
the library does not have it (and after reading the first two I NEEDED to know the finale and can't wait a year, if ever they buy it) and until it is "one year in print" I can't order it thru their ZIP books program for $1. either.
Looking to the luxury of reading it soon. and another wonderful book The Skeptical Environmentalist" also came in, amazing how much factual unbiased, well noted info there is if we want to read it. author is respected Danish professor and former Greenpeace activist Bjorn Lomborg.

I bought two pair of jean shorts. I had a gift card and they were on sale. I bought another pair of water shoes. I bought face cream that was cheaper than I have ever seen. I bought a container with kitten food. About two weeks ago, I bought a bag with dvd's. I went through what I know I did not want. I gave half to my neighbor. She was thrilled. If she wants to get rid of them, it is in her garbage.

Ordered a library book online, I LOVE being able to find a book I want, check the library, and "request it' button they have..then they email to come get..they hold for a week before releasing back to the branch it came from. convenient for us rural dwellers..Thanking the internet gods ( not Gore ) who DID invent the internet via Darpa
Brought home 2 sic fi books that are the start of a NEW series..but I MISSED that they have been based on previous series, so taking back to get the first ones..to read in order.
our library seems to always order books 2-3- and NOT 1..grr..so I use the ZIp book program for $1. to get the book stocked.
TARPS IN..very thin, at 5mm..I expected more heavy grade .but they will work..may buy more.
NEED a mattock.. for arbor girl, not me! will go to hardware store and TRY to not buy new plants attracting my eye or other tools..

UPDATE..GO TO THE NEW (2 years open, never been in ) ACE HARDWARE STORE very near me first older clerk lady did NOT know what a mattock was.. but I found them.. debate between bigger or smaller ones, then looked for the FISKAR tools for hacking weeds and branches..and then looked at a new hoe (maybe easier than a mattock for this trenching plan?) CAN'T DECIDE- will send ARBOR girl in to tell me which ones work for her, then go get them.
In the end I sprang for NEW quality angled broom.. paid for it, as I am leaving the young couple behind me says "military discount?" and I hear clerk say " we have military and senior" my head whips around and I go back and ask for the senior one... meanwhile this clerk is stuffing "free popcorn for customers" for that family (never offered me any before of after I bought anything) but I saw her using her BARE hands several times after touching everything else tools, money, the register..to keep pushing popcorn in the top of the bags as she was filling them.. I had to keep my mouth shut..plus the popcorn machine was down to scraps, so how old was that batch?? Anyway a junior clerk makes a vague attempt to stand in but I explain I need to get the discount..she backs off. instantly as TOO MUCH to think about....waits for popcorn girl to return.. I cheerfully say " well you can learn how to do this exchange transaction for next time, right?" so of course JR girl glares at me and LEAVES to prove she doesn't have to learn anything useful for MY sake.. hahahahaI say a small prayer she will someday realize she will not get far while running away from w.o.r.k. in life. As I am leaving I am thinking: they are getting me to open a rewards card, my name, my phone etc, but NEVER think to offer the discount? I DO look my age most days..and Tuesdays are " senior days" all over town..old folks are out in droves...so not connecting the dots? or not important enough to share with customer? I mean I asked if I get any coupons for being new there, do they send them by email..ALL the triggers for her to tell me..so I can only imagine she is also new, or NEVER trained well. I stopped going to the other ACE in town because of snarky snotty 22 year olds they never trained, too bored to actually turn the box on the counter around to locate the bar code ( this actually happened...the girl waited while ME.. the old one with the cane in one hand TURNED the 4' long (LIGHT weight thankfully) box around for "her convenience"... boy was I pisssed off. and never went back. same thing with the SIDE door in/out to the garden shop into that store... after spending an hour loading up the wheel cart I find they had LOCKED the dang door there, 20 min before closing..(NO sign) and I had to go all the way around... no choice..all thru the parking lots, etc... for THEIR convenience again. this is why I don't enjoy shopping..as desperate as people are for steady jobs with benefits you do not get much in this town but attitude. It's not like I want the 1950s with liveried gas pump jockeys to fill my car..but really??? ( in the 80s when BACK TO THE FUTURE movie came out and the scene where six grown men in full service station uniform RAN to care for your car came on screen ..EVERYONE in the theater just >>>> for 5 minutes..!! MISS that politeness not found in this little burb.

WOW whopping HIGH temps today..YEP may go from high 60s to very low 70s..I mean we ROAST at 72 deg. hahahahahah SERIOUSLY people stay indoors!! we melt. the radio news just announced the hideous high temp to warn us!!
By 4pm it will be brightly sunny, but cooler in the side yard so more ivy pulling and fence-block plotting to happen. Hopefully Arbor-girl will keep coming to tackle all of it.
May go "acquire" more tools tomorrow!! will try bot to let them all rust like I did the gorgeous fancy hatchet I paid $35 for, and let turn into a block of rust.
