Phew my day ended up a bit derailed... literally, I guess. My serpentine belt came off on the freeway on the way home. Fortunately I figured it out before I got into too much trouble. I found a mechanic 10 mins away and a tow company who would pick it up without me having to wait for them. DXH came down and I bought him dinner at the Waffle House! It was a bit scary cause I lost my power steering and that car is heavy!
Chilled out for a while, then worked on my scrapbooks. Gotta start getting ready for bed!

Good morning!
Wow scholar, I'm glad that ended up safely. I love the name "serpentine belt"! I had never heard it before--and at first I must confess that--being that it was you, I thought you were referring to a fashion accessory.
I feel cheated out of a day off yesterday, because today I'm back to having midday walks. Even though I love our shopping trips/lunch, I'm always aware of all the things I should be doing at home.
I'm going to eat breakfast and see if I can get something done before going off to my walks.

Diane! It was quite the adventure. I wish I had a basic education in mechanics, cause I only learn about things when they go awry. It always astonishes me when DXH knows things like "the idle pulley broke" before even looking at it.

magda...thanks for asking and yes she did! Both of my friends won/retained their seats. I will admit - I got home about 7pm Tuesday night (felt like midnight) and I ripped that sign out of my yard and shoved it in the trash can. So tired of the dirty tricks some of the politicians pulled.

mylittlescholar...oh no - my check engine light came on this morning. I plan on having DS take it to work with him tomorrow (he is the mechanic) so that he can look at it. I fell off the face of the earth for two days. Tuesday I was driving to work, got partway there and realized that it just was not going to happen. So I turned around, called in sick, went home and took a three hour nap. I felt a little bit better but not a whole heck of a lot. I drove my parents to an election day dinner at a former church we used to go to. It was delicious. Weds I had appointments so I had requested the day off. Two days off in a row felt fabulous. I wish working PT was an option for me...... My Wednesday pot luck dinner at church is about to fold. fewer and fewer people are attending. One night we had three. I will miss it - I really enjoyed the company. So Wednesday - between appointments and after dinner - all I did was fold clothes and out them in piles on the guest bed. I have a very small donate bag. Usually I am good about parting with clothes. I am the first to admit I have waaaay too many. I am better about stuff coming in. but still..... I have out of season packed in bins. In season are stacked in piles on the guest bed. If I can clean out my BR, I could get the in-season stuff in my BR. then I would have a functional guest room........I did see some blouses in my closet that could be put in the donate bag. We are destined to get snow tonight. I think only a dusting will stick on the lawn. I MUST wash dishes tonight. I am getting so close to finishing my kitchen enough that I can have the appliance repair guy over. And wouldn't you know it - the bathrooms need to be cleaned again!!!

Oh no scholar! That's an expensive repair, I hope you'll be able to manage it.
I haven't felt quite right since I came home--I dressed pretty warmly when I went out but I was so freezing cold out there that I couldn't wait to get back home. I ate lunch, talked for a long time to my sister, started a load of laundry and did more book sorting--but I'm still really cold, my hands are like ice. I just looked at the temperature in the living room and it's 73 degrees, so I should not be freezing--I'm not sure what's going on--I wasn't cold until I went out but I've been home for 4 hours and should have warmed up by now.
I need to pack two boxes of books tonight--during this sorting I found another small box to put together, and that means I have to go to the store to drop them off tomorrow. I still have a large box from last time that I still have time to mail in, so that makes 3 boxes to go tomorrow. I actually feel like going to bed, but it's way too early for that.
I will make some lists and force myself to do some things.
TO DO:
Move laundry to dryer Clean up from lunch PEEP book mess in living room PEEP book mess in bedroom

I'm just about ready for bed, I think I'll just go to bed early tonight rather than trying to get any more done. I registered the third book box but will have to pack and seal it up in the morning. And hope that I get the other label early enough to take that third box, otherwise the third one will have to wait until later. Fortunately it's the company that gives you more time to mail it.
Good night everyone, see you tomorrow.
